Glad to see there’s an active group of people still concerned about this. I had posted about this here:

Definitely agree that this is even more critical with the Deals functionality in place.

The export doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to give us some way to get our data offline, and outside of Highrise.

Love everything else that you are doing, and I think Highrise is blowing away the competition, with the exception of this one feature that should be a basic requirement.

Yeah, but thats just for contact information.

My notes, and now my deals are getting to be that muchy more important, so I want to be able to pull that information out in CSV, xml, or some standardized format.

I’m really glad to see this feature come in, and I’m frustrated but impressed with 37Signals’ discipline in making it a very very stripped down feature. Hopefully the excersise of stripping it down to its core, will allow for it to be built back up again to a balanced yet simple and powerful feature.

I too am using Highrise in conjunction with Pipeline Deals, and would love to be able to get rid of the dual systems.

Any ideas? As more people use the account the dashboard becomes less useful to me! I love the dashboard and use it any day, but its tough with two other sales guys making calls all day long and logging them.

In the short term, maybe theres a tool that can let me filter through the dashboard rss feed?

I hate having to click over to contacts to search for contacts, and would love to always be able to search for everything. Is this what you are asking for?

I don’t think you can even search for cases at all? If there was a way that cases where included when doing the live search for contacts and companies, cases would be much more functional.

Right now cases are completely seperated from all the other functionality that I use, so there’s no way to use them. I would use them if I knew they were there whenever I do a search.

I still havn’t been using cases, and I feel like I could be getting more value out of them.

I have 2 major issues with Highrise tha are not currently address, and Cases may be able to help.
1) most of my contacts belong to multiple companies , and highrise is failing miserably at helping me keep this straight
2) I would love a way to track sales opportunities, and report on them

I think people can belong to multiple cases, so this could fix my 1) problem, if the cases were searchable just like contacts and companies. I’d like to know if I have a case open for a particular company as I do the search, or at the very list when I’m viewing that company.

As someone who’s launched several ASP model businesses, and made the same sales pitch as Jason just did; people just feel better with a copy of their own data.

You can do whatever you want to talk them out of thinking that they think they need it, but it would just be easier if you gave them an export and charged them for it. As a business user thats fully aware how much more secure our data centers are then the typical storage used for our clients data, I still want my own data.

Basic laws for ASP model business:
1) easy export
2) easy import
3) layman’s terms privacy policy

There’s no reason to not provide these things. Export shows that you’re confident you are the best product, so you’re more than happy to let people leave with ALL their data. Easy import is a no brainer, and the privacy policy has to be easy enough to understand that we feel comfortable giving you our data.

The Dashboard is great, but once multiple people are using our account, then the dashboard becomes a bit overwhelming, and you can’t see what any one person is doing.

Im looking for highrise to replace salesforce.com, and this is the last thing I need. I’d be willing to pay to make this happen!!

Its driving me crazy, because most of my contacts belong to multiple organizations. I’m in the early stage private equity space working with Angel investors and VC’s. Many VC’s belong to angel groups, so they have multiple rolls, and highrise is falling short on this front. Everything else works great, but when I look at a contact, if i can’t see that he belongs to multiple companies then I have a major problem!

Topic: Feature Requests / Is there anyway to create a task for every contact? or every contact in a certain task?

In our startup, we often get tasked to go back and call all our users to pitch them on a new feature, or to see if they are attending a certain event, etc.

Our boss would love to set a task for each contact for all of our sales people, so we can check them off once we contact that person about the issue.

Can you do this now?

+1, I’d also like to be able to add a photo from the “Add person to….” screen. You are creating a new contact, adding their details, and one of those details should be the picture. Its wierd to have to add the person, then go click edit person, then go click “change photo” to add someones picture.

Topic: Feature Requests / Contact import finished - which ones weren't imported

In the email I got, I was given the list of 600 contacts that were successfully imported into Highrise, and a notification that a dozen or so were not imported because they were duplciates. It would be great if you could show me which ones these were, because I didn’t think there were duplicates in this batch, and I’d love to have the comfort of knowing which ones they were and how I got duplicates in there.

I was thinking of doing the same, as I’m looking to use Highrise to replace Salesforce.

Any word on whether or not you’ll add opportunity and sales pipeline functionality? I saw a survey monkey thing pop-up and I put in a lot of feedback! Sounds very exciting.

Any sign that this might be happening or are we just wasting our breath hoping this will happen? Its an interesting problem because so many contact managements apps can’t deal with it, and its really not all that out of the norm for someone to belong to multiple organizations/companies/foundations/etc

Is this still alive. I see a lot of talk about sync applications using the Highrise API for outlook, plaxo, etc in 2007. But I can’t seem to find if anything was ever completed.

This is critical for me. I work for a software company that makes software for Angel investors who belong to multiple companies, organizations. They may have a day job, and then they may belong to multiple angel networks or be a LP/GP at a venture fund etc. I need to track all of these things.
