Topic: Feature Requests / Applying tasks and notes to multiple contacts

37 Signals—you’ve added the ability to add tags to multiple contacts. This is great, but I’m wondering about the possibility of taking things further.

In DayLite (arguably a close software-based competitor for Mac users), for example, I can in a few keystrokes add either a note or, more importantly, a task to any number of contacts. This takes much, much longer in Highrise. If I’ve sent a business development letter to 20 contacts, and want to contact all of them on Wednesday next week, I have to go into each contact and enter a note (“sent letter”) and the task (“call”).

This would be a killer feature, if you could make it happen.

Thanks.

Topic: Feature Requests / Export to .CSV - can't handle multiple address lines

I don’t understand what you mean – “people rely on having the whole address exactly as it appears in Highrise.”

That’s exactly what I’m saying – I want the address to look exactly like it looks in Highrise when I do an export and subsequent mail merge. So two “street address” lines – separate by a hard return – should appear as two separate fields in a .CSV file (and separate cells/columns when imported into Excel).

I can manually try to address the problem, but it’s more than a little inconvenient for a large mail merge.

Topic: Feature Requests / Export to .CSV - can't handle multiple address lines

Contacts often have multiple lines in the “street addresses” field (suite #, floor, etc.).

Highrise doesn’t seem to be able to handle this situation when you export to .CSV format. It lumps multiple lines into one cell with a hard return in the cell. When I mail merge using Word, it creates an extra space. Like this:

Fred Smith
Director of Marketing
Company XYZ
8 Business Parkway

Suite 107
Portland, ME 04101

Is there a way that Highrise can be programmed so that if it sees hard returns in the “street addresses” field, it knows to create additional street address fields in the CSV file?

This is a limitation that makes large mail merges difficult.

Thanks.

Topic: Feature Requests / CSV export does not put address in separate cells?

Awesome! Thank you. This makes it much more usable.

Topic: Feature Requests / CSV export does not put address in separate cells?

I’m not sure if I’m missing something here.

I am evaluating Highrise as a possible “CRM-lite” system and just tried doing a CSV export. Highrise dumped the entire mailing address (street, city, zip, etc.) into one cell called “Address – Work,” making it impossible to use the CSV for the most basic mail merge.

So I guess the question is…am I missing something?

Topic: Feature Requests / Creating notes for multiple contacts

A typical function of a CRM system is to be able to set activities (notes) for multiple contacts.

For example, if I send a mailing to 500 people, it is useful to be able to add a note to those 500 contact records saying “sent Aug 2007 mailing” so that when I go back to an individual contact later, I can see a history of all the mass mailings they have received.

My understanding is that this is not currently possible with Highrise. I am wondering whether it is being considered as a new feature.
