Topic: What happened to Plaxo sync?

In my two experiences with Soocial (tried at the beginning of the beta and again last week), this Highrise-Soocial sync is still far from ‘beta’. They target only ‘work’ contacts, it mis-syncs companies and re-assigns them as contacts, creates duplicates, and even wiped my entire Highrise.

Just a fair warning.

Topic: Good way to identify people who haven't be touched in 30 days

For me it’s making a list of people who i haven’t spoken to in 30 days and calling them or emailing them. Just need to making sure the relationship doesn’t dry up & fade into the sand… catch my drift?

Totally agree (except I want to say how many days, not have it sent to 30 or whatever) and would LOVE this feature. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!! <—-on bended knee

Soocial has been working on a Highrise sync, but Soocial is currently in private beta.

You can sign up @ http://www.soocial.com or try out their campfire to ask for a quick invite.

Is this still alive. I see a lot of talk about sync applications using the Highrise API for outlook, plaxo, etc in 2007. But I can’t seem to find if anything was ever completed.

Topic: Inherit Company address

Hey Jason – for me it’s about export… I’m not sure if that’s bbebop reasoning. Thanks!

Ahh, so this is about export. OK. Your post was the first time “export” has been mentioned in this thread. Now we know.

Yes, but if you were to do an export you would not get that person’s company address. We need these lists if we are going to do a mailout… for Christmas cards for example :)

Just so everyone knows, when you are viewing a person that is attached to a company you’ll see that company’s contact information in the sidebar on the person’s page.

Topic: Please... Plaxo integration!

Here is the latest message I got from Todd at Plaxo:

Hi Melvin,
.
Unfortunately we are still working on those deep sync bugs, so there is no update for the moment. But we’ll let you know when that changes.
Thanks!
-Todd

+1 for me as well. I think this is a great idea.

Jason – thanks for considering this :)

I think you need to ask that of Plaxo, not here.

I think a simple labeled association between entities (http://forum.37signals.com/highrise/forums/9/topics/1850) would fulfill a lot of needs.

Cheers

Another vote for ways to associate info from one contact with another or for company info to be a choice when entering someone under that company name.

Completely agree with this.

If you see the company as the parent and the contact as the child, then the child should inherit certain details from the parent.

This is especially frustrating when a contact’s vcard is exported and there is no reference to the company contact details.

[EDIT] great to hear Jason.

With the API it is, but not built into the general app at this time. The request has been noted.

We like this idea too and will likely consider it for a future version.

Topic: Inherit Company address

Ya…. That says it easier than I did just 2 minutes ago in the thread, collapsible locations….

quote from the other thread:

Let me modify this a little….

I realize that we can add addresses per individual person, what if there were a drop down of the existing locations, in the business profile, available on the add person page? That way you wouldn’t have to enter the address in so many locations. My challenge is…I have one client with 7 locations…I know 3 people at the corporate office and a manager of 1 location. All the location addresses are entered in the business profile. As I make contact with each location I will meet someone new. Now, I need to enter that person and associate them with the location. So I have to ‘retype’ the address that is already in the company profile? Now my side bar has the addresses listed twice? Phone numbers twice? Hmmm….

Thanks

I’d like to create a company record with phone #, address, web site url, etc., and then, when adding contacts for that company, inherit the address and other info, either automatically or with the click of a button.

Is this possible?

While I would like Plaxo integration there is also an opportunity. Plaxo stops at 10,000 contacts. My interest in HR started when I got the Plaxo corporate notice that I could not long user sync given I am over the Plaxo limit.

HR could be the app that picks up where Plaxo stops. Or HR could be a tool so that you can keep a subset of your contacts on Plaxo. In the extreme you could rotate contacts in and out of Plaxo to stay below the limit but still pick up the changes users make to their address cards.

In Apple’s Address Book widget, clicking on a contact phone number dims the desktop and displays the number in a screen-spanning font. This is very useful when dialing.
