Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / Search Notes fails

Hi Mike—

Content needs to be indexed before it will show up in search results. This can take a couple of minutes. If you’ve waited a bit and you’re still not seeing results, contact support and let us know.

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / Why doesn't Highrise remember my username and password

Highrise won’t fill the fields in for you. None of the apps will. You should bypass the login screen completely if you’re logged in and the remember me box is checked. If it’s not checked, you’ll only remain logged in until you quit your browser.

Topic: Highrise API / Search By Email Address

Good news! We just pushed support for advanced search by email, both via the web interface and the API. The API documentation has been updated to reflect this:

Topic: Highrise API / Search By Email Address

Though currently undocumented, you can search for additional fields using the ‘criteria’ parameter like so:

/parties/search.xml?criteria[phone]=123
/parties/search.xml?criteria[state]=IL

They can also be combined to narrow the results:

/parties/search.xml?criteria[state]=IL&criteria[zip]=60622

You can’t search by email at this time.

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / difference between a task and a case?

Cases in Highrise help you keep related notes, files, images, and people together on one screen. They’re really helpful when you want to keep related communications from multiple people together in one place.

Tasks are just that: tasks. You use them to help you get things done.

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / Highrise down?

Highrise was unavailable for about 2 hours tonight because of a cooling issue at our data center that caused a number of machines to be shut down. No data was lost, and everything is up and running again.

In the future, you can always check http://status.37signals.com for up-to-date status information.

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / How long does a contact import take?

Contact imports are queued, so the amount of time they take can depend on your position in the queue. 3 hours sounds like a little too long, but if there are big imports queued up ahead of yours, it’s possible.

Highrise will email you when the import is complete. Wait a little bit longer, and if your import still hasn’t finished, contact us at support@highrisehq.com and we’ll investigate.

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / Turning off RSS Feeds

Hi Fraser. You can’t really turn off RSS feeds. But you don’t have to subscribe to them. Out of curiosity, why do you want to turn them off?

Topic: Feature Requests / Searching phone numbers

FYI: Last night we launched a new feature we think you’ll love. Now you can search contacts by city, state, zip/postal, and phone. We hope you find it useful. Thanks for your continued support.

Topic: System Announcements / NEW Feature: Advanced search

Peter, you’re right. The phone number search matches at the beginning of the string. We think this is more useful since you’re often searching for area codes. If we matched anywhere in the string, and you searched for an area code like 312, you’d potentially get a bunch of results that you don’t want.

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / Bulk delete - new function

I don’t know what to tell you, Phil. I’ve tried it in every IE7 I can get my hands on and it’s working. Locally (via vmware) I’m running a slightly newer version of IE7, though: 7.0.5730.13. Maybe try updating? Thanks for your patience.

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / deleting contacts

We just added bulk deleting of contacts/companies. Click the contacts tab and you’ll see checkboxes at the start of each row. Click one or more checkboxes and a yellow “Delete these contacts” bar will show up at the top and bottom of the list.

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / Highrise "Contacts" button on Mac

This was a bug that’s since been fixed. The contacts tab is smart in that it tries to remember your last filter setting (e.g., recently viewed). We changed a URL, and if you’re contact tab had that URL in its memory, you’d get the 404 page. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / Batch Importing Problems

You definitely don’t want to import 3000 contacts one at a time :) Send an email to support and we can take a look. If you’re trying to import a generic CSV file it unfortunately won’t work. We currently only support CSV exports from Outlook and ACT9.

Sorry you’re having problems, Phil. I just tested in IE7 and it’s working fine for me. Can you be more specific about what’s not working for you?

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / OpenID issues

Sean, obvious question (so forgive me if you’ve tried this already), but did you try logging in and out of Highrise? This will force the OpenBar cache to reload.
