Make "when's it due" in task creator easier to use

We use Highrise as our sales contact book. Given our business, when we’re talking to prospects the usual cycle for calling again is either in a couple of weeks or in about a month’s time. Highrise offers “Next week” but beyond that there’s only “Later” which seems to be where tasks like “defrost the freezer” or “make an honest woman of the girlfriend” go. So we end up using the “specific date and time” a lot. Let’s say the task is due for a month’s time. First you click the months dropdown and if you’re not careful you end up setting the task for last year (I don’t see why you need a selection of months right back to the beginning of the previous year), and then you choose the day. After that you need to set the time to something that’s not in the middle of the evening (which always seems to be the default), and after about 8 or 9 clicks you’re finally done. Please 37 signals can you add “in a fortnight” and “in 4 weeks” to the defaults and fix these selection boxes in “specfic date and time” so that they’re easier and quicker to use. |

+1 2 weeks and 1 months would be perfect for us too! |

I’m looking for something similar. I’d like to assign a task to a particular day in the future without assigning a specific time to it. I love the “Tomorrow” and “This Week” concepts, especially how “Tomorrow” tasks automatically become “Today” tasks on the next day. It would be very useful to have the same thing happen when I assign a task to “Next Wednesday” without assigning a specific time. I rarely need to do a specific task at a specific time in the day, but often need to make sure something is done sometime during a specific day. Request: Allow tasks to be assigned to “Specific Date” without also requiring “Specific Time”. |
