NEW FEATURE: Dates to remember

By very popular demand we bring you “dates to remember.” The dates to remember feature lets you keep track of important dates for each contact. You can add their birthday, anniversary, date hired, date fired, date granted a promotion, or whatever other date you want. How it worksIn the sidebar on a person’s page you’ll see:
Click “Add dates” and you’ll see:
You can pick a standard date type (birthday, anniversary, etc) from the pulldown or select “Other” and you can add your own. Pick the date, the year (“every year” if it repeats like a birthday), and if you want a task set a week before the date. You can add as many dates as you’d like. Here’s an example of three dates added for one person:
When you go back to the person’s page, the sidebar looks like:
And there you have it! We’re real excited about it and we hope you find it useful. Thanks for the suggestion, BTW – this feature was based on customer requests. |

Suggestion would be to let people tweak the reminder/task settings. I would also like to see a check box for “Notify on the day” that would email & SMS me that it’s Person X’s birthday. I’ll forget a 1 week reminder… In any case…. WOOOOO!!! HOOOOO!!! ~ mel Melvin Ram |

+1 for Melvin’s idea. A reminder on the day of the event would be great, and on the other end of the stick if I need to be reminded to buy a birthday gift for my mother it’ll take more than a week in the mail for it to get there, (yes, we live in the same country, our postal system’s just slow here in Canada, especially in comparison to the USPS). |

|
Oh, I forgot to mention. This is an awesome feature! Thanks so much for putting it in. I’m terrible with dates, especially birthdates, so I’ll use it. |

Our pleasure John! |

Melvin and John, if you check the box to create a task for a particular date, you’ll see the task in your task list a week before that date, and you’ll get a reminder by email and SMS at 9am on that date (as long as you don’t complete the task beforehand). |

Good job – now, I would like an option for a box on the dashboard – Upcoming birthdays/upcoming dates showing the next 14 days or something like that… These dates are interesting for everyone, and since only one person can be assigned to each date, we need a list ;) |

I really love this, thanks so much for putting it in. I wish there was a way to show important dates all in one place, like on a page/tab or be able to make a case or even be able to choose a range that the Dashboard would show. (I realize that some people have so many accounts that showing important dates on the dashboard would be a nightmare so I guess it would have to be a range) For right now, I’m handling important dates by specifying a Task so they show up in order on the dashboard and it’s easy to label them. That seems to be working just fine for what I’m doing because we are small but it would be nice to get them out of Tasks at some point. THANKS for the new feature! |

More wonderfulness!!! Outstanding work guys! Thanks. Regards, |

Sam, are you saying that if I specify a birthday for March 7th, I will get an email & sms on March 7th if I don’t complete the task that gets created for me on March 1st? ~ mel Melvin Ram |

Gobby - There is way to add items. Didi you not see that or you just want to wipe the list and make you own? |
|

Hi Cindy, what I meant was we’re stuck with options I’ll rarely use (10 birthdays, tops), use once (anniversary – Mrs G will find my new-found prescience rather disturbing), or never use (hire and fire). Conversely, the options I do want to use a lot (I haven’t figured what these are yet) will have to be typed in every time because they can’t be added permanently. Actually that’s quite a serious deficiency from a sales point of view, because a customisable list would be a great way to remind one to set up call back dates, etc. Also, being able to attach dates to companies, societies, clubs etc would be fab for reminding about AGMs, parties, meetings etc. Big plus point though is I can now de-clutter my terrifyingly long task list. |

Oh, I understand. I haven’t used it yet so I didn’t see that you can’t add items to the list permanently. That’s a drag. Yes, I would like it much better if I could make my own list. Then it would be more like the sales steps template that I really need. I think for now, I’m going to do what everyone else does and just figure out a place to stick it. Like in a case or something and I can cut and paste it into the contact. I do really like the feature but being able to add items permanently seems pretty vital. |

Isn’t this what tasks are for though? |
