New Feature: Import from Outlook
|
|
By very popular demand we introduce Import from Outlook. If you use Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007, or Outlook Express (PC) you can import your contacts into Highrise. But before you import your contacts from Outlook, you need to get them out of Outlook. Here’s a tutorial showing you how to export your contacts from Outlook into a CSV file that Highrise can read. Once you have that Outlook CSV file, just click the “Import” link in the sidebar on the Contacts tab in Highrise. Next select “Import from Outlook” and then upload the CSV file you exported from Outlook. It’s been a top request, so we hope you enjoy this new feature. Thanks again for your continued support! |

This is, of course, the thing many of us have been waiting for (in fact I would have thought it a launch necessity but that’s just me). Kudos for getting it out. OK, last hurdle cleared. HR here we come! |

Can’t get it to work. I started a thread over here Any info would be SOOOO greatly appreciated. |

Worked good for me with one catch – accented characters were dropped out from contacts. The problem is, that Outlook is saving CSV by default in ANSI encoding. Opening the file in Notepad and re-saving it in the UTF-8 did the trick. Just to let somebody with the same issue know. |

Yuck re: encoding. Thanks for sharing the tip. |

We have a proposal for 37signals to use their own Outlook Websync utility to “sync” contacts between Outlook and Basecamp/Highrise Our team have developed this MAPI plugin for our @Mail software and it’s been working well for years. Can really tighten the integration between users in Outlook and the web. Details at: http://atmail.com/atmail_sync.php – The utility could be tweaked to speak with your API, and provide users a brillian contact/calendar sync for Outlook. This could be used as a lightweight Plaxo alternative, re-branded as a 37signals utility, and we include the source-code. Food for thought Jason? |

I would love it if this was made real ~ mel Melvin Ram |

Also, I had problems with importing from outlook: http://forum.37signals.com/highrise/forums/11/topics/1597 ~ mel Melvin Ram |

Didn’t work well for me. About half of my contacts didn’t make the trip over. I ended up exporting vcards from Outlook for my most important one’s manually. Not a happy experience at all. |

I work in siftware company, and last week we announced the plugin of two-way sync BaseCamp with Outlook www.grabsync.com (sync milestones, To-Dos, contacts and soon messages). I read this forum and think that it would be useful to make such a system of full synchronization between HighRise and outlook. How do you think? If you have some ideas or want to request features that you really need, you r welcome! Feel free ask and suggest me personally, venera@grabsync.com |

any Chance that Salesforce file imports is comin. You would gain an enormous customer base with an easy transition from Salesfore.com. At the minimum does this CSV upload work for traditional Excel contact files that are saved as CSV’s? |

|
+1 for salesforce. |

Can anyone tell me how to restrict the Outlook export by filtering on a field. User fields #1 tells me which of my Outlook contacts I need in Highrise. I ended up taking the CSV into Excel, and doing it there, but I’m sure that is an easier way. |

It is better than other but some problem are exit here such as that Outlook is saving CSV by default in ANSI encoding. Opening the file in Notepad and re-saving it in the UTF-8 did the trick. Just to let somebody with the same issue know. |
