You can now click a tag (on a person’s page or in the sidebar on the Contacts screen) and export the people that match that tag in single vCard, multiple vCard, or CSV format. This joins the full export feature we launched a couple of days ago. We hope you find this useful.

+111 Yes. Most useful feature to date. Allows Highrise to serve as the authoritative source of a contact’s data and to quickly drive 3rd party applications such as email merges, label, letter and envelope merges for our offline communication needs.

First off, I just wanted to say excellent work overall! It’s also great to see the export capability being expanded.

Just a question regarding the export capability for those who are concerned about “having their data trapped”..

Do you plan to continue to expand the export function to export ALL data (notes, tasks, cases, etc..) contained within Highrise and not just the contacts themselves? Being able to export every single piece of data contained within Highrise is what I, and I assume many others, would need in order to feel comfortable using Highrise and not feel as if our data is “trapped” or we are locked in because it would mean losing portions of it.

It would be great to have a definitive answer that yes there will be a way to export 100% of the data contained in Highrise.

We do plan on having more export options in the future, yes. I don’t know when and I can’t say what, but additional export options are in the cards.

You can pretty easily write a script to pull data out if you need it asap.

The ability to export all Highrise information is very important. I use Highrise to run core business, but when they are ready to spawn off on their own, I want to set up a separate Highrise for them…and not am feeling very much like I can’t Anyone written something with the API to do this?

So, it is the ability to export, but also the ability to fork, if you will, one company either by a group who has permission to see records or by tags. Either way would be fine with me, but we really need to be able to do this. I need to move everyting over for a subset of records to a new highrise. It seems like you would make more money this way. ;-)
