HR Email opens Gmail instead of Outlook
|
|
For about a month, when I clicked on a contact’s email address HR would create a new mail in Outlook with the dropbox in CC. Loved it. Then about a week ago it started opening my Gmail and creating a new mail there instead. I’d prefer to have HR launch the Outlook mail instead of Gmail. Is this some preference setting I’m missing? I haven’t changed any of my settings as far as I know, and Outlook is still running (and wondering what it did wrong). |

You’ll need to change your preferences on your computer for your default email client. Unfortunately this isn’t something you can do through Highrise. |

Thanks Sarah. I looked in Firefox and both my GMail and Outlook and can’t find anything indicating where I set the default email client. Any idea where it might be? Sorry to be a pain, but this worked wonderfully for a month and now inexplicably opens one instead of the other. |

To change the default email client back to Outlook on Windows, 1) go to the Start Menu, choose Control Panel and Internet Options. 2) next, go to the Programs tabs of the Internet Properties dialog box. 3) under email, select Outlook from the drop-down and click OK to validate your choice. 4) That should be it. Test it from Highrise to see if the new setting worked. |

Thanks for the input Clifton. Followed every step and started to get a sinking feeling when I saw that Outlook was already the default email program in my Windows. |

Hi there, I just signed up for Highrise and was having the exact same problem. My search of the forum brought me to your post…I came back because I found a solution that worked for me- hopefully it will help you too! I had also checked all the same settings mentioned in Firefox, Outlook and Gmail, as well as the Control Panel/Internet Options setting. Although everything listed Outlook as my default email, Highrise continued to open emails in Gmail…frustrating. Then I checked my GOOGLE TOOLBAR in Firefox (probably works the same in IE or other browsers). It turns out there’s a setting in there to default to gmail… Hopefully this will work for you as well!! |

Thanks Vicki! Found the little box in my Better GMail settings and unclicked it. Now it’s opening highrise mails in Outlook. Phew. |
