Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / Uploads unpredectable - timing out

I keep having problems with basecamp and uploads. If a file is over 2-3 MB it seems to be a 50/50 shot as to if it will upload or if the page will time out. We are on 10 MB fiber, so the upload/page time should not be a problem. I also notice that it seems to be uploading to basecamp’s server then passing to S3 (I may be wrong here). Is that extra delay a problem for this? Would it be better to do a direct S3 upload? Can the page timeout be extended?

Topic: Feature Requests / Resource allocation

This is me just dreaming…

For companies like ours that run a lot of projects at once, it would be very cool to be able to assign resources to set times. Milestones are good for seeing when stuff is due, but being able to “book” someone’s time so that we can look at a claendar and see if they have time to do other things would be great.

Currently we hack around this with tools like Google calendar (with our basecamp milestone feeds pushed in) but would be nicer to have a reportable block.

Topic: Feature Requests / External file links

With all the file issues (limited space, difficulty deleting, etc) I had a thought that would help considerable. What about allowing file links for files rather than just upload? This would allow us to post to our own server, or better yet, link in a custom system using the API to post links to the file tab. From a programming standpoint this would keep it a very small update but allow external flexibility.

Love Basecamp, but the file storage is becoming a bear. I am having to dig through old projects deleting files one at a time to clear up space. We need some way to mass purge, drag and drop delete, and a way to search all files across the system. When we start approaching a file storage limit its just tedious to go through 5 pages of 200KB files clicking delete, “ok”, delete, “ok”, delete, “ok”, “delete”, ok, .......
