Topic: Printing

I was also wondering this. I have Windows XP so I don’t have iCal (wish I did) so I solved this by using a program I have called “SnagIt”. I took a “Snag” of the calendar and then printed that. I like that I can snag just one week and give that to my hubby, or snag the whole thing for use in my paper planner.

I am desperate to be able to print out my monthly calendar for when i do not have internet access. Is this possible or planned?

Topic: This Week/Next Week

I appreciate your perspective; nevertheless, things haven’t changed everywhere, even if it were “only the US.” I don’t think they’ll be changing anytime soon here. So, to sum up this thread, I reiterate my request: please, 37sigs, at least give us the option to use the conventions of our own countries on this matter.

Chemnitz,

Sunday has been the first day of the week (in western culture, at least) for thousands of years.

Things change. It’s only the US that views it this way now. I agree with you though, an option would keep us all happy.

This could all be settled by giving it as an option in the preferences. A simple radio dial: First day of the week is a) Sunday; b) Monday. Problem solved. Everybody’s happy.

Topic: This Week/Next Week

I think most would not consider Wikipedia an authoritative reference; yet that link itself gives the days of the week as starting with Sunday in one place and notes that ISO 8601 (which has not been universally adopted) changed it to Monday. Sunday has been the first day of the week (in western culture, at least) for thousands of years. I greatly prefer Sunday – it’s beyond annoying to see a task I’ve set for Sunday being listed on my task lists, and especially those I’ve assigned, under “This Week” when the reason why I set it for Sunday is because it’s the first day of the next week.

Topic: This Week/Next Week

Sorry Todd – there has been an ongoing debate about the Milestone and other calenders in Basecamp concerning the first day of the week. They used to be Monday to Sunday corresponding with the fact that the first working day of the week, and indeed the first day of the week outside the US, is Monday. However, a vocal majority based on the US pressed the case for the first day on the calenders to be Sunday and 37S decided not to fight the battle and relented.

Regards

Richard

Safe from what? I might need to apologize for not being familiar enough with the BaseCamp forum, but I didn’t quite follow.

Topic: This Week/Next Week

There seems to be a bug – tasks I entered last week for “next week” are still showing up as “next week” on Sunday – shouldn’t they have moved to “this week” now, since Sunday is the first day of the week (not the “work week” for some, but the first day of the week all the same)?

Topic: Extended ASCII in Campfire

Hello—names with extended ASCII characters (accents, etc.) seem to work great in Basecamp and Highrise, but those names don’t appear correctly in chats in Campfire. For example, RenĂ© appears as

René
.

Names appearing in the members list do appear correctly, it’s just within the actual chat transcript itself that the name does not display correctly. Is this a bug? Fixable?

Thanks.
