Topic: Feature Requests / Fav Icon needed Please do change this. I understand that Safari doesn’t let you see the favicon in the toolbar but FireFox & Google Chrome do show the favicon. I’m not pretending to know all the dynamics involved but I know a favicon can be made in 2 mins and can be added to a website with 1 line of code. Please add this. I really don’t know how to ask nicer than this. |

Topic: Tips & Tricks / How to use what to use... hahaha a mule would make life a little more interesting. As far as tasks go, I’ve stopped using BaseCamp as a day to day work agenda… and more of a planning, managing and communication tool. Early in the week, usually Monday or Sunday night, I’ll go through each project and prepare an Action Plan for everyone. I do this inside Ms OneNote. I also copy/paste my Highrise tasks into this Action Plan as well. I work from this list for most of the week. I try to check email twice a day. And use Google Hosted Mail & Outlook. I use the Google Mail interface if I have internet access. I try to ‘Archive’ emails immediately if they don’t require me to take any action. In Outlook, this would be the equivalent to moving it to a different folder, outside of the inbox. That way it’s out of the way… & focused on what needs action. things that require a response get starred. I mentioned that I use both Google Mail & Outlook. I use Outlook to automatically forward my emails to Highrise. Basically, I’ve got it set to forward emails automatically if that person exists in my address book. I also use the Plaxo & LinkedIn toolbars inside Outlook. For calendar functionality, I don’t go complex. I just use Google Calendar + Plaxo + Outlook. I enter things into GCal and plaxo imports it automatically and adds it into Outlook. I barely use Outlook so I don’t know if it;s effective… but it seems to work fine. I don’t try to add Google Calendar into Highrise or BaseCamp. |

Topic: Feature Requests / FTP Storage - No discussion allowed? yeks! i stopped by home for a minute so i thought i’d check email & google news reader and noticed a heated discussion… and WOW, 37s is getting slammed here. Calling their response a “communist party leader speech” is completely uncalled for. Jason’s response was not like a “communist party leader speech.” It was clear to me from Jason’s reply that: - the reason “discussion of adding this service back as a feature request is not OK” is because there are other threads talking about it. - “what happens to users who cannot use the Amazon storage system?” is that they’ve “made the decision and phased out FTP” so find a different solution or live with their solution or repost in existing threads. (i can understand not finding other threads… mostly because we dont have time to keep digging.) - “why you don’t just go other way and simply charge these troublesome users who can’t configure an FTP server more to use their own storage…” is because they have made a business decision on what is best course of action for them is to “phased out FTP.” Respect the decision or move on… like u’ve done with other products/services u don’t like. Personally I don’t have a big problem with the BaseCamp storage method but I can understand that certain companies… especially financial companies, have lots of requirements. I also understand it must be really frustrating finding a product as good as BaseCamp that you can’t use… so i feel you on that. I have similar feelings about HighRise since they don’t have certain things I need. You just have to voice you problems and either live with it or move on. Calling their response a “communist party leader speech” is uncalled for. |

Topic: Feature Requests / To-do deadlines My approach is To Do List = list of detailed To Do’s ... Milestone = deadlines for To Do Lists. My To Do lists are not things like “Setup Verisign billing system”... It’s more strategic/goal oriented… like “Automate Billing” and has tasks like:
What would be nice is to be able to create a new milestone at the same time I create a new task list… A simple check box that says “Create a new milestones for this Task List” and a date picker. |

Topic: Feature Requests / GUI Text Formatting chazzo… that is for the user to decide. If they want it 24pt green Times let them do that… and beat up on the user for that. I don’t understand the rational for removing the formatting guide… but if it’s to prevent usage of a feature, then they are definitely on the right track. (rolling eyes) Seems nuts to me: A) they still don’t have a WYSIWYG |

Topic: Feature Requests / More style control... Oscar, did you do anything special to make that happen, either than setting up a form, pointing it to ‘https://sector7g.clientsection.com/login/authenticate’ and adding ‘user_name’, ‘remember_me’ & ‘password’ input fields? |

Topic: Feature Requests / Fav Icon needed I agree rich, The favicon doesn’t have to be a BaseCamp icon. It can be something like a check box or something generic. I would prefer ability to upload a fav icon to having a standard one. ~ mel |

Topic: Feature Requests / Fav Icon needed I’ve got BaseCamp in my Toolbar Bookmark favorites… you know, the links that show at the top of the browser window. Well, the icon next to it is very plain. It’s a plain white document… because you guys don’t have a fav icon specified. This is a very simple thing to do. I’d like you guys to add a fav icon so I can visually see it and make it easy to find for myself. Google Mail has an envelope. Google Cal has a calendar icon. Constant Contact has a CC icon. Pandora has an icon. Zoho CRM has a Z icon. I know its a small thing… but thats why you guys should do it soon :D |

Topic: Feature Requests / Print plesae? I must admit I do have a childish sense of humor :D … i hope it doesn’t change. In anycase, you’re right… it’s a very nice surprise. They don’t push it in their marketing, and I think it’s on purpose. It’s what I like about them. They don’t make a big deal over things they (and their users) think should be on every website. And beat the drum on things they think are truly innovative… versus finally doing something right. |

Topic: Feature Requests / Gantt Chart Sam, Kinda seems pointless. If you can’t do Y before you do X, then you won’t try to check off Y until X is done. And if you’re checking off X, than obviously Y is not dependent on X. Why add that structure to it? I see no point of it. I like the current flow, Create > Assign > Do > Check Off |
