Topic: How are you using Basecamp? / Subprojects, milestones, and dated to-dos You can assign a todo list to a milestone….
Correct. You don’t need to date todo’s, they can be tied to a milestone which has a date, you can organise their priority by order. |

Topic: Feature Requests / Reply To email addresses on messages I’d much prefer if the reply was automatically read in by basecamp and then added as a reply to whatever thread/item the original was about. |

Topic: Miscellaneous / What software do you use to send estimates/invoices? Bringing this post back up from the grave. I signed up to Blinksale, but their invoices do not render correctly in Outlook 2007 – I know outlook rendering engine (Word) is crap, but that is beside the point. I can’t have my invoices looking like total crap.. so It was unusable to me. I was really impressed with the simplicity of Blinksale however, is it worthwhile checking out freshbooks or something else? |

Topic: How are you using Basecamp? / How do they connect together ? Sadly, there is very little that links them all together at this stage. Eg you can import your contacts into highrise from basecamp, but they are not “linked”... 37S is pushing in this direction however (from what I gather of their posts around here). |

Topic: Feature Requests / To-Do lists vs Highrise Tasks...
hmmm… create tasklist.. and assign it to a milestone with a due date… set priorities by dragging and dropping (eg items at the top are highest priority). There is your priorities and deadlines. |

Topic: How are you using Basecamp? / Meetings & Permissions I usually create a message with information about the meeting, and link it to a milestone. I always give clients full control to do everything. But they cannot assign Todo’s to you (which is an issue imo). I hope 37S will revisit this shortly. |

Topic: How are you using Basecamp? / How can external company staff assign to-dos to internal staff? Remember this a collaboration tool… and in our case, often that means collaborating with other companies, and having them assign stuff for us to do. I posted about this issue in another thread recently. But basically our web development team and a separate web design team were collaborating on the one project, and it was frustrating that the web design guys could not assign things that we needed to do. I can understand the reasons why you would not want people assigning things for you in certain situations, hence the need to make it optional. |

Topic: Feature Requests / Assign To-Do's To All Yeah it needs to be optional.. and I have just massively hit this issue today.. We are collaborating with another company on a project, and they cannot assign things for us to do….. :/ Anyone else have another workaround that doesn’t involve creating a dummy account? |

Topic: Feature Requests / 'List View' message ordering Seeing as the system used to display wether there are new comments or not is a bit.. well flaky. Could the order of the messages be in order of last activity? Somewhat like it is on a real forum? The one with the most recent comments are placed at the top. |

Topic: Miscellaneous / Very slow to use I’m in Sydney Australia, absolutely no speed problems here.. Firebug tells me the dashboard page takes ~187ms to load! (after the 250ms of latency for the request to be received). So total time to load a page is < 400ms! Of course with servers in Australia that time could be halved :P |

Topic: Feature Requests / Who's talking in this thread... This is handy having having the contact details for everyone who are particpating in the thread. However it only lists, one phone number for example (I think it defaults to the office number). I often find myself wanting to ring someone on their mobile, I then have to goto the people page, and then find where they are.. So it would be good to be able to get all their contact details in that right hand pane. Maybe if you hover over their name a little popup comes up with the rest of their info so as not to clutter things up. |
