Topic: Basecamp API / TaskPaper integration via Applescript?? Has anyone out there thought about a way to integrate the wonderful TaskPaper app with Basecamp todo lists? I LOVE TaskPaper for quickly keeping track of all my todo’s on my Mac, but have been longing for an easy way to then get those tasks in Basecamp. I don’t have Applescript or Basecamp API chops to pull it off myself, but I thought I’d throw it out there to anybody who may be experiencing the same thing. Any takers? :-) Ben |

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / OpenID and RSS Feed login (?) I updated my Basecamp login today to use my OpenID. (Great addition by the way). However, this seems to have broken my RSS reader software. I use a very simple reader for Mac OS X called RSS Menu Should my new OpenID login work seamlessly for RSS Feed authentication or does my feed reader software have to support OpenID specifically? thanks. [edit] I just tried to access the feed via Safari as well, and it doesn’t work either. I’ve tried entering my OpenID username with no password and with a password—neither work. |

Topic: System Announcements / NEW FEATURE: "List view" for messages Just want to add to the chorus. Although I LOVE the fact that list view exists, it IS very confusing and does not function as it should. And it sounds like there may be ways of making it work better. (some of the posts above)?? I think it’s great either way though. Much much more clean and easy to read. |

Topic: System Announcements / NEW FEATURE: Image thumbnails for messages and comments Thanks! Great update!! I’ll add another voice to the idea of this being in the Files section too. Would be very helpful. Cheers! |

Topic: System Announcements / Some adjustments to the Overview screen
I couldn’t agree more. Really, why can’t the indicator simply be the same as is on the DASHBOARD? A small, unobtrusive, unyelling bug. The huge color bars just feel gaudy. The rest of the upgrade is FANTASTIC. Love it. I just really don’t like those colored bars. |

Topic: Feature Requests / do-not-reply emails != me I’ll throw my hat in on this one too. More than once my clients have tried replying to messages they get, only to find out a week later that I never got their reply. YES, people should be able to read the note that says DO NOT REPLY. But the fact is: not everyone is even 1/10 as tech-savvy as WE would like them to be. In their world, they get an email, they reply to an email. Believe me, I’m ALL FOR the concept of no email at all and just using Basecamp, but that’s clearly not going to happen with most clients. |

Topic: System Announcements / NEW FEATURE: Interface design refresh At first, I was in the “need the red block” camp. But thinking about it a bit more, I see Jason’s point entirely. I’ve had stuff in my red box for weeks! :-) I think the point he makes is quite valid – it’s at the top, it’s red already, and being louder red doesn’t make you actually do it. p.s. – kudos on the design refresh. Much needed and very nicely done. |

Topic: Tips & Tricks / BaseCamp Tip: [UPDATE] tag You succinctly covered the exact issues I mentioned. Thanks for the breakdown. I hope 37s updates Basecamp at some point to at LEAST be consistent in the way it handles these helpful graphic bugs. I don’t even totally mind having to hard code the images (I can use a copy/paste helper app), but I would at least like it if the Dashboard and Overview pages handled them consistently. |

Topic: System Announcements / The new Basecamp Forum I didn’t get a word of that. Is that a regular expression? (which I’m not fluent in by any stretch.) :-) Thanks though! I now see that Phrase searching works. FWIW, it would be great to be able to use the typical (if old-fashioned) “word AND word” method. Lots of times I’m searching for something and I know what words are involved, but not exact phrases. Also, I’ve checked “Watch this topic”, but what does that mean? How do I find which topics I’m watching?? Thanks. edit: nevermind on that last question. If you click your own name next to your gravatar, you’ll see a link to the posts you’re “monitoring”. Beast is great – if cryptic as hell! ;-) |

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / Textile does not respect indented blocks in Basecamp messages. using bq. does work. But that doesn’t answer/solve the question. I have the same problem. Either the instructions are wrong in Basecamp (and according to the Textism site, they are), or something is wrong with the way Basecamp is rendering that ”>” instruction.
does not equal
in my Basecamp. |

Topic: Tips & Tricks / BaseCamp Tip: [UPDATE] tag I love this little hack. I only have two beefs with it:
If there was a way to make either one or the other work consistently, I’d use this much more. As it is, I just end up putting my bugs in the message body—which sort of defeats the purpose. (and of course it would be awesome to be able to upload as many custom bugs as I wanted and just call on them the same way you call on [UPDATE]. But I’m sure that’s way to “feature-y” for 37signals. :-) |

Topic: System Announcements / The new Basecamp Forum I really like the speed, functionality, and look of the new forums. However, I’m stumped as to how (or IF) I can search for more than one word at a time. I’ve tried “word AND word2” “word, word2” “word word2” and nothing seems to work. ?? Is this a limitation of Beast or there something I’m just missing. thanks! |
