Topic: Feature Requests / Milestone Notification

This may have been posted elsewhere but I will bring it up again.

More notification options for pending milestones. Often we have milestones that take longer then 48hours to complete. I would like my team to be notified well in advance of the posted milestone. An option for 4 weeks, 3 weeks, 2 weeks, 1 week, 5 days, 4 days, 3 days, 2 days, 1 day would be great. If they were check boxes then you could select more then one. I would also like to have the option to be notified daily of any missed milestone.

I never thought of this idea (Private Overview Section), but now that I have heard of it I could think of a 1000 uses for it. Basically for our needs we would just need a private overview tab that displays above the public one.

For what it is worth I have the same issue, I get around it by including myself on any post that requires my attention.

Then using the email notification I receive, I flag all my work using Outlook. It requires a few additional steps but until something better comes along that is what I do.

We do a lot of estimating of projects internally, then once we receive the project we are forced to open a new one for exactly this issue.

It would be nice when adding a company if you had an option to “Make all previous messages private” However, what we have done is either

1. Manually edit the first of each message and make it private
2. Just start a new project, and our first private thread is a link to the archived project for reference.

I still agree that this is not the easiest way to accomplish this, but for now that is what works for us.

I agree with the above posts, we manage 50+ clients at a time, the sheer volume of emails gets out of hand.

It would be nice to have options available to the individual user on how they want to receive notification and how often.

This may be beating a dead horse here, but I also am having a hard time using the search feature. It appears to be an issue when searching characters. I was logging into the forum to post this issue when I came across this thread.

I go back to the original thread in wanting the milestones to have several options for the notifications. I would like to be able to specify the first date of notification, then how frequently they receive notification after the first.

The above script is great if you are a Firefox user, but most of our company uses IE7. Any options for the rest of the world?

I also agree with this.

We will have a thread that has been running for a while with the same group of people. Then we need to add a new person to the loop to get there feedback. When we add them and they get the first notification it usually results in confusion.

Having an option to add without emailing would certainly assist this issue.

I also don’t see a reason for HTML emails at this time.

The text emails are clearly formatted and items like bullets still come through in the text email which is the only thing I think is vital for relaying a message clearly.

I would also like to see this feature simply for mailing out things like Christmas cards at the end of the year.

There are many reasons we need to be able to access all our clients information. Downloading an excel or CSV file would make this much easier.

Archive Clients

We have numerous clients that do one project, and then may not need our services again for many years.

It would be nice to be able to archive them so we don’t have to scroll through a list that is 20+ screens long now to see active clients.

I also have a need for this type feature. I often find myself downloading private files only to turn around and upload them again. Filling the database with duplicate files.

I know this has been brought up several times, but it is very important for our company so I will request it again.

Private Milestones – So often we need a couple days to review information internally before posting to the client.

There is an easy solution of making an internal policy to have work completed the day before the posted milestone. However, this is a tough policy to enable when you have short turn around on deliverables. Most often this policy ends up effecting the client by moving the milestones extra days into the future.

This could all be resolved by private milestones.

Topic: Feature Requests / System Announcements

It seems almost daily Basecamp posts a system announcement with a new feature or service.

I am wondering if we can use this same system to make announcements to our clients. For example the holiday weekend is coming up, I would like to announce that we will be closed on Monday. Is there anyway for me to be able to do this without posting to each individual project?
