It seems, from a non-developer perspective, that adding Due dates to To-Do’s would be fairly simple if you simply tweak the time entry screen on each To-do. Can a developer elaborate further?

There is no indication within the email of the distribution list for the message, or any indication of who will get the reply. The vast majority of my users are going to assume that everyone on the project is NOT getting their replies, which will not usually be the case. This was not the case prior to the new feature launch.

Users are now forwarding emails/comments to team members because they do not see who is receiving the communications – doubling the work.

DeskAway seems to have some pretty slick features…The reporting, as you pointed out, is great! Also, due dates on to-do’s, Calendar, etc… All the things we request they have. If only I was not 250 projects deep in Basecamp.

Topic: How are you using Basecamp? / Resource Scheduling

Is anyone using Basecamp for Resource Scheduling? We are a Medical Software Provider company with 50+ resources in our services department(Project Managers, Implementation Consultants, Software Implementation Engineers, and Crystal Report Writers) and trying to find a way to Schedule/allocate resources for projects and tasks.

If not in Basecamp, how do manage project resources?

We have officially adopted BC as our PM tool but the limitations of BC for our large organization are starting to show. I’m not naive to think there is one application to do it all but one can dream.

The Textile formatting is no longer 100% of the time. In the Overview page announcement section, the ”* ” which is used for bullets is minimizing my text and not including a bullet at all. Same for the ”# ” format. any clues?

agreed sambyer – bq.Their lack of innovation and stagnation will slowly eat away at their monthly annuity checks. That’s too bad. I really appreciate how you’ve helped my career. But I can only stay loyal so long in the face of competitive offerings.

It seems that competitors are continually deploying updated/new offerings and Basecamp gets a update once every six months. Changing the look of the application does not count.

However, I’m vested so I’ll cross my fingers and hope they pick up the development pace.

Does anyone have a large set of Avatars that can be used in Basecamp? Be nice if someone could develop a ‘non-cheesy’ set of avatars.

how about a Basecamp Instant Messenger. Essentially, take the Chat tab and turn it into a IM that gives indication when someone is logged in they can chat by popup window.

Does anyone see the need for message templates as well? I have many project managers and its difficult to maintain standards on some of the messaging. Message template, if at all possible, would be nice.

We are partnered with another company that sometimes needs to be setup on projects for clients we share. When the vendor/partner login, they do not the projects categorized by company. Instead they get a long list of projects to select but have trouble because of obvious reasons. They have no clear way of knowing what company the project is associated with.

Firefox has a add-on that once loaded, you can right click in ANY text box (messages, comments, Writeboards, to-do’s) and up pops a easy to use HTML editor.

If you are looking for a way to enhance Basecamp with a variety of text colors, tables, fonts, I recommend you check it out if you are a Firefox user.

In addition to a total project template, message templates would be a good way to standardize specific messages.

Has there been any discussion about Form development. It would be nice to have the ability to create forms/questionnaire’s. An example would be an assessment that we send our clients in the form of work/excel documents. If I could create these forms/questionnaire’s dynamically and have it stored in Basecamp, all would be right with the world.
