Topic: Feature Requests / Upload Progress Bar Jimmy, we read every forum post, but we don’t reply to every post or every request since we don’t comment on future plans one way or another. But we are aware of requests and take all requests into consideration. Thanks for sharing your feedback. |

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / 30 MB Upload Limit? The 100 MB limit is for accounts that use Basecamp file storage. The 30 MB limit is for accounts that use their own FTP servers for file storage. This feature isn’t available anymore, but it grandfathered in for original customers. |

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / HELP! - I (and my clients) just lost access to all but one of my projects! You may want to try clearing your browser cache if you can’t log-in since the maintenance. Basecamp has been up and running fine since the maintenance window. |

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / Internet Explorer 6 BARTdG, when I say customers I mean all users. Our stats show a small slice of all our users are still using IE 6. It’s about the same number as were using IE 5 when we phased out support for that browser. When we phased out IE 5 we received the same kind of push back, but looking back it was absolutely the right thing to do for the vast majority of our users. It allowed us to make large strides towards improving the customer experience and speeding up time to market for new features and enhancements. Things like drag-reordering to-dos, for example, were only possible once we dropped support for IE 5. Before drag reordering of to-dos it could take a minute or more to move do-tos up a long list. And it wasn’t even possible to move to-dos between lists at all. That’s just one example of many. Also, just for the record, this isn’t a 45 day notice, this is a 3 month notice. The original announcement was made on July 3, and we have extended the deadline to October 1. |

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / Internet Explorer 6 Basecamp will continue to work as it does today with IE 6 up until October 1. After that we make no guarantees — you may continue to use IE 6 at your own risk, but as time goes on fewer and fewer features will work with IE 6. After October 1 we will likely show a notice every time you log in with IE 6 reminding you to upgrade. We went through the same process with IE 5 a few years back, and now it’s time to move on from IE 6. We recognize this may cause difficulties for a small minority of our customers, but it’s time to move forward. We apologize if this affects you. We’ve extended the deadline by 45 days to help make the transition easier, but that’s as far as we’re able to go. We highly recommend that you begin using one of the following browsers before October 1. They are all free and they all provide a significantly better online experience than IE 6: |

Topic: Miscellaneous / BaseCamp help is pathetic Sorry to hear you’re let down. We list how to delete something in the help section before we explain how to create it because creation is far more obvious than deletion. There’s a big button on every screen that says “New message” or “New to-do” or “Upload a file.” People don’t ask how to create things very often since it’s the largest action on the screen. Since deletion is usually moved back a screen behind an “Edit” link, we have a help entry explaining this. Most people find this on their own, but for those that need help we clearly explain how it works in the help section. |

Topic: How are you using Basecamp? / How do I assign one TO-DO to multiple people Basecamp only allows you to assign milestones or to-dos to one person. You can read about the logic of this decision on our blog: http://www.37signals.com/svn/archives2/make_one_person_responsible.php |

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / Drag-and-drop could use some work Sorry you’re experiencing an issue, but we’ll need some details in order to troubleshoot this. We’re using the same browsers you are using and we’re unable to replicate this. Thousands of people are reordering thousand of lists all the time without issue, so perhaps there’s something unique about your setup that may be causing this. Please file a ticket at http://www.basecamphq.com/help/support with all the details so we can check into it. Thanks. |

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / We have lost the ability to add projects Cherie, the issue appears to be incorrectly formatted HTML (an iframe, in this case) in one of your to-dos. If the HTML is incorrectly formatted it could cause the rest of the layout to break since the rest of the layout is designed in HTML as well. I would advise not using advanced HTML (such as iframes) in your to-do items. To-dos aren’t really meant to handle advanced HTML with frames. Making something bold, or linking something up, or adding italics is one thing, but adding frames to a to-do is bound to lead to problems. |

Topic: Miscellaneous / Strongspace (Moving Files) Sterling, what Sarah said the correct. We’re unable to custom map or manually move files from a third party service. We certainly appreciate your business as a long time customer, and are happy to help you with anything inside Basecamp proper, but at this time we aren’t able to transfer and remap files from an external service onto Basecamp storage. It’s a custom one-off request which we aren’t structured to fulfill. -Jason |

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / Emailed Comment replies losing format in Basecamp By formatting what do you mean specifically? Bold text? Links? Basecamp only takes the plain text – it doesn’t retain formatting when posting via email. Unfortunately many email apps completely botch HTML emails and receiving broken HTML from these email apps could very easily break the entire Basecamp layout. |

Topic: How are you using Basecamp? / Basecamp for Student Law Journals You can specify who sees which projects, but you can’t control permissions beyond that. By that I mean you can’t say John has permission to see Project A, but he can only see to-dos in Project A and not Milestones in Project A. |
