Topic: Basecamp API / Developer needed for project You might want to post what programming language you’re planning on using for this project (PHP, Ruby, ASP, Perl), as well as a bit more information regarding time frames & such. I’m certainly not able to take on this kind of project, but those kind of things would be of interest to any potential party. |

Topic: Miscellaneous / What software do you use to send estimates/invoices? @JPB: I use Blinksale as well, since my invoicing needs are quite small. And regarding your “credit notes”, it IS possible, you just have to add a placeholder value into the invoice to make it positive. Kinda kludgy, but it works. So if you want to credit for $10, add a placeholder for $20. Try that. @bytte: Blinksale DOES allow CSS, so you can change the look & feel of your invoices as well as the Thank You notes that leave their system. Might be worth a look. Good luck! |

Topic: Feature Requests / More then 5 last projects in overview I know that 37s has talked about the Dashboard being a pretty intensive place on their server loads, thus why many of their design decisions have stuck for so long on that page. And when it comes to performance I can’t disagree with their decisions. However, I think you may have stumbled on a nice modification that may not impact that page as much. If each project could have an “UPDATED” or other flag, that might kill two birds. But then again, I know that they often work on things behind the scenes that are far superior to our suggestions. Great idea though. |

Topic: Feature Requests / access to pages of files I just realized a quick way to navigate near the center or your files. Use a URL silimar to: http://yoursitename.updatelog.com/projects/project_num/files?page=2 <—change the 2 to 30, or wherever might get you close. |

Topic: Feature Requests / access to pages of files For that amount of files, I think you have a couple possibilities to consider:
Honestly, thinking about 58 pages of files sounds quite daunting. Good luck! |

Topic: How are you using Basecamp? / Automated Request System Another possibility although not seamless would be to create your request forms in something like Wufoo, and then have an API tie-in between Wufoo & Basecamp. Not sure if that’s feasible since the API is certainly not my forte. /2ยข |

Topic: Feature Requests / Associate Files with To-Dos/Milestones For To-Dos, you could always just place a file link in the body of the To-Do. Not graceful, but a nice work-around for now. I discussed how to fully do it here. Good luck! |

Topic: How are you using Basecamp? / How do I put an image into a Writeboard Once you upload your file, just right-click it in the Files section, and then Copy the Link. By pasting that, you should be able to include an image in your Writeboard. Plus, if you want the image to appear within the text, be sure to put ! on each side of the link. <—that’s textile for showing images. Good luck! |

Topic: Miscellaneous / Search Forums Cindy: Sorry, I wasn’t real clear in my message. And since I have the Google toolbar installed, I forgot to mention that it has to be a specific Google search. Chalk it up to my haste to add to the conversation while quickly digging through over a weeks’ worth of forum messages. I apologize. But kudos to you on the Search page. That’s something that I know can be done, but I honestly haven’t tried anything like that myself. Very slick, and very easy. Thank you! |

Topic: Miscellaneous / Search Forums As an aside, whenever I’ve been looking for posts here, I’ve been trying to use Google since I know the Search function leaves something to be desired. I’ll admit that I’m not a Google search maven, but using the search text below results in a lot more found entries. Not entirely intuitive, but functional. Good luck 37s on getting Beast to work a bit better. Outlook site:forum.37signals.com/basecamp |

Topic: Tips & Tricks / BaseCamp Tip: [UPDATE] tag Andrew: Thank you for the props, and I have more icons that I use as well, but they’re direct from the Office 2003 icon set. Basically, if I wanted something to visually cue myself, I figured an icon was a more intuitive method… along with being more fun. Michael: Okay. Those make my icons look like child’s play. How incredibly slick. Now I’ll have to try & figure out something similar, if you’re cool with that. And I’m wondering if there is a way to do it natively… sorta. Now I have to put my Greasemonkey hat back on. |

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / Global iCalendar on Google calendar Nothing more than adding it several times, although I did try over the span of about 2-3 days. So it’s possible that some crazy combination worked better. No idea though. * shrug * |

Topic: Tips & Tricks / BaseCamp Tip: [UPDATE] tag I have contacted support, and I’m hoping that they’ll correct the text. For graphics that I did make myself, which are more for my database design notes are: Field – And anyone can feel free to copy them for their own use. I only ask that you don’t directly link to them since it could impact my bandwidth usage. |

Topic: Tips & Tricks / BaseCamp Tip: [UPDATE] tag Yeah, I hacked those from Basecode for sure. I should send an e-mail to support to correct that. Sadly, my graphical skills are nowhere near good enough to have created those myself. Nice catch, Andrew! |

Topic: How are you using Basecamp? / How to Integrate Campfire with Basecamp. Yes, you can integrate a Free Plan of Campfire within Basecamp. I’m currently doing that since I rarely have a need to “chat” with a client. Works wonders since I don’t need the users or rooms of the other plans. |

Topic: Feature Requests / Global Milestones iCal File Cindy, thank you for the response. I found another thread on here… ages old that mentioned that Google has “issues” with external calendars. Sometimes, it takes deleting & adding several times for it to show up. And it might have coincided with a time frame as well. But Jason is probably right that it’s a quirky thing with Google Calendar. sigh At least they’re better than MS Outlook. :D |
