Topic: HIGHRISE versus BASECAMP I am still hoping for significantly increased file storage and file management capability. |

Topic: We use it for private contacts, can't afford it for academic use. I personally cannot see the logic behind the plans that are offered. Why do you get only 1 user for $29 when you get 6 users for $24!? That’s odd…. I think that pricing should reflect understandable measures and the old model of “user-based-licensing” just makes less sense on the internet than back when a user was tied to an installed software license (and a shipped CD-ROM, etc.). Instead Highrise pricing should lean up against the same model as Basecamp: 3 plans to choose from (3 is the magic number, Apple has this philosophy as well with their products). And only differentiate on number of cases and storage. Contacts/users should be unlimited (as with Basecamp), which would also make it easier to integrate the two later on down the road. Suggestion
And the off course there is the free model: $0, 1 Active Case, no storage Now THAT would draw in customers (don’t ya’ think) |

Topic: Templates for Milestones Impressive group of posters here. These are all great requests, especially the “Duplicate Project” template. According to the person here who creates the projects in Basecamp, it would save her two hours, per project. Multiply that by the eight to ten new projects we receive every week and you can see the savings would be significant. |

Topic: Notifications to two email addresses
If gmail did allow forwarding to multiple accounts you could use it as a listserver, which I guess is one of the reasons they don’t allow it. But yes, I think it’s quite reasonable to expect clients to organize their own email distribution. |

Topic: Notifications to two email addresses GayleH, Your solution is a bit “clunky” but I don’t think there is going to be any “non-clunky” way to address this. In my opinion your Client is asking you to accommodate his lack of having a good communication system in place, sort of like asking you to leave messages on two different phones every time you leave a voice mail. I have multiple email accounts as do many people but I’d never expect senders to be sending everything to two accounts. As randian pointed out, if he wants to receive everything at both accounts, he should set up one of his own accounts to forward to the second account. I looked to see if you could set up a free email account (gmail etc.) for him that could forward to two other accounts, but none that I saw allow mail to be forwarded to more than one account. |

Topic: Notifications to two email addresses I have a client who has asked that notifications of messages/files etc be sent to both his home and work email addresses. Is that possible? The only thing I can think of doing is to have the client down as two people (eg John Smith Home, John Smith Work and give “both” John Smith’s access to the project. Feels clunky to do that. Is there something I’m missing? Thanks. |

Topic: Save message bodies of task emails It would also be good if tasks that are emailed into Highrise that do not find a contact person (and are then rejected) were then added as a task without a contact person. Then at a later stage you should be able to assign the stray task to a person. NOTE: You can add tasks now without associating them to a person so this email should not fail. Also as randian says “Incouding the email body is important, I totally agree” |

Topic: What's with the new signup page? No, they’re still there. We’re just currently experimenting with promoting less plans at signup as to not overwhelm people with the paradox of choice. You can still upgrade/downgrade to the remaining plans once you’ve signed up (either starting from free or from one of the other pay plans). |

Topic: HIGHRISE versus BASECAMP I find that Highrise switches screens faster than does Basecamp. Also, a project update is sometimes best accomplished by simply attaching an email to a project. I don’t know how to do that in BC, so I am doing it in HR. |

Topic: Project Duplication or Template Hi there – If you are interested in duplicating projects, you might want to check out Treetop. It’s a Basecamp extra that is in beta right now. Your input about how to best implement this feature would be much appreciated. Thanks – j |

Topic: Project Duplication or Template Not sure if this has been requested already, but a feature that would be very beneficial to me is project duplication. When I first set up a project and I am adding in 3 new ones that are following the same milestones, then instead of me having to go in and put them back in again for another project, me duplicating it would be very helpful. I am sure that most companies have about the same type of milestones to meet i.e. First Round Design, Begin Front-end Production, etc.. So having a template of sorts or being able to duplicate that project would save time. Thanks, |

Topic: Templates for Milestones Completely agree… this would save loads of time for me, too. Most of my projects follow a very similar pattern and it would be great not to have to start from scratch each time. |

Topic: Templates for Milestones Yes Mr Jason Fried, this would save mountains of time and it should be easy to “Duplicate Project” including all milestones and to-do lists etc OR “My Templates” could be expanded to let the user customize how basecamp works for their business, in My Templates you could have Project, Milestone, and To-Do List templates Perhaps (like with other feature requests) their is a specific reason that the development team does not add this feature, If that is true I have yet to see it posted anywhere… |

Topic: Whiteboard deletes empty spaces Dear Randian, Great stuff – thanks. LK |

Topic: Whiteboard deletes empty spaces On a whiteboard have changed the font to fixed font “new courier” to allow us to write a list in three columns. As a tabulator function does not seem available, we are adding a few spaces to get the columns properly aligned. This looks fine in edit mode – however when published the spaces are compressed to a single space, meaning that our alignment is wrecked. as a work around have replaced the spaces with dots ”...” – however this does not work well either a our fixed font is overruled for the first 3 dots. As a further alternative dots with spaces ”. . .” does not give a perfect alignment there to the request: is possible to get a tab function, or alternanatively would work if the additioanal spaces are not deleted. thanks / Lars |

Topic: View all Users Tasks Tasks can be either private or public. By default, only you can see your tasks, but you can make a task public by selecting the checkbox when creating/editing a task that says “Let everyone see this task.” Checking this box makes the task visible to everyone in your Highrise account. You can read more about it here: |

Topic: View all Users Tasks As the Account Owner/Manager and Admin, you can view Tasks you assign to Users, but not the Tasks the Account users create and Complete? This would be very helpful as a manager of a Team to see that Users are completing there own tasks and setting follow up tasks to accounts they’re given. |

Topic: Templates for Milestones YES and AMEN to this I have around 30 projects live at a time, and 80% of them follow the same path, with the same 5 milestones that maintain the same timeline structure. It would be great if I could just select my milestone template instead of typing the same crap in every time, and then hafta do the math on figuring out which day each milestone falls on. |

Topic: Setting Permissions, How and Where? I would also very much appreciate the option to assign permissions to groups. It will be very helpful when sensitive data has to be entered into the system. |

Topic: Setting Permissions, How and Where? I have a similar problem – I raised a new group (the first one) and wanted to assign permissions but when going to companies and contacts do not have the option to select a group – where did I go wrong. I like the permissions area in Basecamp – where I can assign people to companies and with the new release able to go to a user in admin and select or deselect them from the entire project listing – can this be done for Highrise and make my life a lot easier as I am adding a user who only needs access to a few companies in our highrise account and don’t relish the thought of manually going through every one to deselect the user from the access. Topic: Templates for Milestones Has anyone from Basecamp responded to this request? Is this feature on the current development road map? I am actively looking for a project management tool, and this is an essential feature. For a company that will execute hundreds of projects all with the same attributes creating a project anew each time is wasteful and not an option. |

Topic: Templates for Milestones I second this request. Creating the same milestones for every project is a bit time-consuming. |

Topic: Templates for Milestones Our projects generally follow a similar time line (certain milestones are scheduled 7 days from start, 14 days, etc.) and it would be wonderful if there were a template based on number of days from start date for milestone dates. Even better if that template could automatically dump into a project once you set an opening date. |
