Transcripts?

When a Campfire room is integrated into BaseCamp, is there any way to see transcripts? I know that you can log in using CampFire, but that means I have to duplicate all of the accounts on CampFire. Is there any better integration planned?

Jon, log into your Campfire account and click the Transcripts tab.

Yes, that’s fine for me, but what about the rest of the people in BaseCamp? Will I have to create CampFire accounts for all of them to allow them to view transcripts?

Jon, they already have Campfire accounts. Just have them log into your Campfirenow.com site.

I might be asking a different sort of question, but this topic seems related: when anyone from my company goes into the campfire area, they get transcripts and the search field. When my clients go into the chat area, they get neither. Is it possible to make a change so that clients get the same access to search and transcripts that I have?

I have the same problems as Jody and Jon N.

  • none of the people in my Basecamp project can login at campfirenow.com (as I think you’re suggesting they should) without me explicitly inviting them on the “Members” tab of Campfire;
  • when clients go to the “Chat” tab, they’re logged in as guests without transcripts or search. They’re asked to enter their full name, even though Basecamp already knows it.

The lack of “history” and transcripts is kind of the killer. We’re definitely not all in there all the time, so it’s nice to be able to pop in and have a short discussion that others can catch up on later. I’m also using Tinder to post svn commit messages. But since no one can see the history but me, it doesn’t work like it should.
