iPhone Support

It almost works but not quite. The chat page will load on the iPhone bit the textbox shows up on the middle of the page. The scrolling behaves oddly too. It always scrolls to the bottom such that if it try to scroll up to the textbox, the page will automatically bounce back to the bottom. It’s impossible to post a message. I hope support for the iPhone comes soon. Micah |

Yeah Campfire is a tricky one—it uses some pretty fancy javascript and positioning to keep the text entry box at the bottom of the page. We’re going to look into seeing what’s involved in getting it to work on the iPhone, but we can’t make any guarantees. |

Jason, I’m stoked you guys are considering revising campfire a bit for iphone support. To be honest, when Apple announced the iphone and safari built in one of my initial thoughts was, wow, awesome campfire on a mobile device. We use campfire all the time and having it available on the iphone would be great. |

Now that we can use the iPhone browser… it would be great if others in the room could see that you are using a mobile device so they could understand why you are so slow to respond or use so few words. |

@mreyher – how about just posting your first chat message as “ON MOBILE DEVICE” (or similar)? Would be an easy way for others in the room to get the message. |

On and BTW – the iPhone implementation of Campfire is great! Thanks 37signals – even the webclip icon looks cool. What html/css templates are you using for Campfire & TaDa List iPhone versions – are they publically available anywhere? |
