I am getting this error and just posting this in case the problem is NOT with me.

Proxy Error

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request GET /milestones/responsibilities.

Reason: Error reading from remote server

I was getting it as well but it seems to have magically fixed itself.

I’m having the same problem intermittently right now – I’ve raised a “help” ticket.

Fast, reliable, hassle-free
Since Basecamp is hosted on our safe, fast, and reliable web servers, you don’t need to worry about a thing. All you need is a web browser (IE 6/7, Firefox, or Safari), a Mac or PC, and an internet connection.

Same problem here, UK.

I raised a support ticket too now, thanks forgethisname, but I’m in the UK and don’t know if 37Signals is going to respond to this US time…

At a guess, I would put this down to another load balancer problem, which probably means they were messing with the system when it went offline, and are hopefully aware of the issue….

Avatar richallum 586 posts

Don’t think they are aware – have a look here

Have also posted ticket – we’re using it to plan our campaigning for Thursday’s elections and – among other things – artwork that desperately needs printing is trapped on there.

Last time this happened there was talk along the lines that ‘I hope we don’t have to wait until they wake up in Chicago before this is fixed’. As this was first reported 5 hours ago and nothing has come from 37S, I would like to know how we stand on support given the time difference as the status page and Twitter feed say nothing.

We’ve got the same problem… 502 Proxy Error for Basecamp. Highrise is still working perfectly…

Avatar Phil Powell 2 posts

Same problem here in the UK.

I’m not sure if posting a ticket is going to help, as they don’t get responded to until the next business day.

This is really bad form if 37signals haven’t got support mechanisms in place to deal with this kind of problem. Looks like a load-balancer issue to me, which ought to be causing alarm bells to be ringing somewhere in their infrastructure.

I am NOT happy – don’t expect this kind of thing with a paid-for service.
