Is there anyway to create a project template that can be copied when ever a new project is needed ? When we initiate a project we create the same document store, initial messages and initial writeboard. Ideally we’d like to set it up once and then duplicate it, rename it and permission it accordingly.

I’ve had a scan through the FAQ with no luck.

This has been requested for 4 years. Its lack says it will never be implemented.

Really ? Is there any reason given ? It seems like an obvious feature that would save a fair bit of time for many people. Can’t think it would be too difficult to implement.

We would also use this feature extensively. We are working on a grant program which begins a new project every 30 days. We have neither the time nor people to spend much time on administrative overhead, so the ability to quickly re-create an entire template project (with writeboards, milestones, message categories ) would be invaluable.

We would most certainly use this feature as well.

We are a concert production and multimedia company that creates many events throughout the year. We have many duplicate milestones and tasks with assigned persons for all our events. Having a project template is basic to what we do. Basecamp MUST add this feature.

Basecamp may not, but I have a feeling the first basecamp-esque site that comes out allowing template projects will have about a million former Basecamp customers signing up in the first couple months – the amount of time it would save would save any company tons of money on employee/managerial productivity.

The best thing I can recommend at the moment is to create a project that contains all of your templates for messages, todos, milestones, etc. for each kind of project. Once you start a new project, copy in your stuff.

And again we need this feature to create a project template. We are new to basecamp so you can only create to-do-list templates? I would like a template such as “Overview” for each project. We have been creating in word and copying and pasting to a the “overview” area.
