post a URL in Messages

I’m in a Project and attempting trying to post a URL in a new message to our team. Here is the URL:

http://www.mail-archive.com/openssl-dev@openssl.org/msg21675.html

I’ve tried numerous ways to get this to display correctly in Messages and each time it ends up being un-clickable. Ideas?

Using the Textile Quick Reference as a guide I also tried:

open ssl devopenssl-dev@openssl.org/msg21675.html

That ends up displaying this:

openssl dev threadopenssl-dev@openssl.org/msg21675.html

Yup, I’ve tried lots of stuff for complex URL’s too. HTML, code/pre, pre/code, tt, tt/code, etc, etc. I also tried notextile, but that didn’t work either. Come on 37Signals. The link shortcut works for simple URL’s, but colons or slashes in the URL itself mess up the display. Perhaps Basecamp is Doing Too Much ? We need a fix, this should be simple.
