Email "LATEST PRODUCT UPDATES" not wanted
I don’t like the new LATEST PROJECT UPDATES in the email. It’s just too much. I can get the latest updates on the web under the overview screen where I like them. |
Also, How can I turn off the people icons? If we don’t use photos, we equally don’t want the icons. |
agreed. I just posed the same request over in the bugs forum. |
agreed – to much! |
Big up for the addition of the new reply via email feature, sweet! But yeah, we need an option to turn off the updates summary. Too much noise! |
How on earth can the latest project updates be an improvement? |
Reply by email is great! Mile long email containing “Latest Project Subjects” not so great. I find it difficult to understand why a feature like that would be forced on everyone with no option to turn it off. And it needs to be turned off now. |
Ditto on the icons—would love to turn these off as the just take up space for us. Distracting and unhelpful if (like most customers I’d imagine, and like most users of this board) people don’t upload icon images. |

Thanks for the feedback everyone, it is appreciated. Over the next few days we’ll continue to gather and evaluate feedback. As we always do, we’ll use this feedback as one vector in the decision making process. |

Agreed with everyone else. Please remove this. The email to project feature is great, but I would like my clients to visit Basecamp and see their late/upcoming/future milestones too. They won’t do this as much if they don’t go into the project on Basecamp… |
I agree. I really did not like having all this additional content in the email. Reply by email is great, but this is too much. I think this will confuse users. Especially if they’re new to basecamp. Only a few people need to know all of this information. And those people are usually experienced enough with basecamp that they can sign into find it. At least make this something I can turn on or off. Otherwise thanks for the update! When my company first started using basecamp a lot of people mistakenly replied to emails. Its hard training people to login and respond. This will make life a lot easier. |

Overall, glad to see the reply-by-email function, but looking forward to version 1.1! +1 on removing the latest project updates. Waaaay too much info for our crew. Like any other situation where there’s too much info, it slowly causes folks to begin to ignore the truly important stuff (like the content of the Message/Comment itself). |
YES! The THE LATEST PROJECT UPDATES is just too much. How can we turn this feature off. I like the reply function. |
Agreed. |
yes, please, too much. |
If you can use a mobile device, you can click on a one-link RSS feed. Latest product updates is typically the kind of information for RSS and should not repeated under every email. Please don’t build shaky features for lazy people, educate them. |

It’s morning here in London, and the latest project updates section is gone… |
There is now a good link to the project overview instead. |

At first we thought the ability to REPLY to MESSAGE emails would we great, however, we have found that if multiple people are associated to a MESSAGE posting thread, the new emails are only addressed to YOU, so there is no sight of whether other team members are getting these emails. i.e. Email Addresses To: me only, and from that email I can’t see if anyone else has been copied in. This tends to mean we each individually reply. (We then look silly back to our clients)
Yes, here here! |
Hey everyone… We’ve pulled the project updates footer feature for now. We have an alternate idea we’re going to explore. Thanks for your feedback and stay tuned. |
Woohoo! Thanks. Our clients love the respond via email, but they will also be happy without the additional information. |
Appreciated decision Jason. Thanks. |
Thanks Jason. I’m impressed at the quick response. You have restored my faith in basecamp :) |
