I’m guessing this one has been noted before as well—but it would be great for those granted PRIVATE status rights to be able to make private comments in a public thread, like [PRIVATE] “Jim, where are we with this client request!?” Awkward to have to manage private discussion on a client-initiated thread in a completely separate thread.

I completely agree. I see 37signals has started really busting out feature requests. Perhaps this one can be bumped up near the top of the list?

We communicate with our clients using Project Path and it would be very handy to be able to add a comment in-line with a client’s comment so we can communicate privately about the client’s message before sending the client their response. And it’d be nice to have these in-line with the client’s original comment.

It might also be good if new comments defaulted to the privacy level of the last comment, if any. That way a co-worker doesn’t need to remember to mark their response to a private comment as private. Only the person adding the next public response would need to remember to un-check the “Private” check box.

This sounds kinda dangerous to me, what if you clicked the wrong button and your client saw your “He’s being a stubborn ** about this one, can we work out a way to appease him” type message… :)
