Project Managment Consultant?

We have been trying out basecamp for the past few months. At it stands right now the management of our project management has just become another thing to do. We are skipping on entering projects into the system because it is too time consuming. As our workload continues to grow we are getting more frustrated and losing jobs through the cracks. Do you have any type of project managment consulting service that is in conjunction with your software? Someone who can look at what we set up on your software and discuss with us our work patterns to help guide us on how to use the software in the best way possible? I had a project management consultant come in to our office but they had never heard of your software and didn’t want to work with it. So that wasn’t very helpful. The didn’t actually have any good suggestions for software based management and just kinda back peddled around it by saying we were not busy enough to warrant the expense of software for project management. They felt a simple EXCEL spreadsheet and Outlook would be sufficient. I disagree… We have 2 person office that manages about 15 – 20 projects at one time and about 20 – 30 active quotes in the sales que. Sometimes I have up to 50 different contacts and process points that I need to keep track of. I would say that an excel spreadsheet just isn’t goign to cut it. All of our projects are almost exact in the process it’s either a print project or a web design project. The tasks each time is almost always the same. Is there anyone out there who is familiar with Graphic Design firms and is willing to offer their expert assistance to us? Thanks! |

I wouldn’t call myself a ‘project management consultant’ but I’d be happy to talk to you about managing your stuff with Basecamp — I’ve helped a bunch of people get started, and settle into useable workflow management with 37s tools. (Feel free to email me at michael at actiondynamics dot com.au if you’d like to discuss offline.) |

I am also looking for a Basecamp Consultant. My company would like to move to using Basecamp to manage our projects but no one internally has the time to learn the software or set the projects up. We currently have about 35 projects that we need an experienced user with some free time to help us set-up. We would then want this individual to also then train the PM group on how to use the software. Know anyone who might be able to help us? My company is based in Lebanon NH, USA. |

Affordable – I think you are the perfect candidate for Basecamp + Highrise (for your quotes). I don’t know of any Basecamp consultants but you might find you don’t need one if one person in your office can devote a full day or to to just messing around with BC and HR and reading through the forum posts. The system really is awfully simple. To the extent it has faults, it is that it is too simple in some areas to deal with a specific need of a specific business. Thus the decision you are likely to run into is whether to work on a “workaround” to meet your specific need or to go with a more complex software system all together. |

I am consulting for a large company who has about 30 projects going at any given time. I have helped them set up basecamp for all of their users, created templates based on their business, and am assisting them with ensuring that their projects are completed on time. |
