I’d rather not get them. Here’s why:

I’m sitting in front of a computer typing a new message, I select the whole company to notify and click send.

1) My computer notifies me of a new email. Why? Who knows, obviously I just typed the message so I am aware of it.
2) My blackberry gongs to say new email and as well all know I am aware.

Can’t it just forgo the initial email but still include me in the notifications of comments? I think this would be simple to implement and prevent email clutter.

Just don’t check yourself and it wont send you a message.

You will still be subscribed to the thread, you just wont receive a notice.

Why should I? How about not make me do it and have 37 signals add a line or 2 of code and save me the trouble because I’m paying them.

Brandon, different people want different things. We’ve had about the same number of requests on both sides of this issue, so in this particular case we’ve decided to give the choice to the user.
