Add someone to a thread without emailing

In the continuing effort to reduce unnecessary emails, it would be very helpful to be able to add someone to a discussion thread without having to edit a message and then email the original message to the person being added.

It would be great to be able to add someone to a thread without notification, then post a comment knowing that the new person will now be included.

I also think an administrator (or at least an account owner) should be able to remove someone from a thread without having to log into that person’s account.

Sorry if this has been requested previously.

I also agree with this.

We will have a thread that has been running for a while with the same group of people. Then we need to add a new person to the loop to get there feedback. When we add them and they get the first notification it usually results in confusion.

Having an option to add without emailing would certainly assist this issue.

I’d like this feature too.

We’ve set up a workflow in the messages area of various projects.

We did this by setting up categories along the lines of:
01. Ready to start
02. Underway
03. Awaiting approval
04. Approved

We edit the message to move it from one category to another. It would be very useful if we could add/remove people to the cc list as we change the category.
Otherwise the signal to noise ration is bad and people don’t read the notifications.

Agreed.

In one particular project, as a workaround, I start a blank thread to all, to make sure everyone is included. But it does create a lot of wasteful and distracting messaging.

So a set of buttons to switch on and off who is and who isn’t included would be excellent.
