I have had users comment on writeboards expecting email notification to others.

Perhaps this needs to be clarified somewhere that no notification gets sent out when a user comments on writeboards?

I second this. And even more, a way (like with messages) to add people to the writeboard initially—this way they are notified immediately of the new writeboard via email rather than having to login and [hopefully] see it on the dashboard.

I agree. It makes it tough to follow updates and comments on Writeboards when you don’t get notifications. Please add this!!

We have had this happen at times but not enough to be a problem.

Any writeboard activity gets logged on the overview page of each project and the dashboard so you can get notification from the RSS feed on these respective pages.

Comments also do not appear on the Overview – this is another issue – if they appear here then even if an email notification was not sent at least people monitoring the project would see them. This should be a setting – “Show Comments on Overview” Yes/No.

+1 if anybody’s paying attention to this thread after it’s been sitting for over a year. I am struggling to explain to a client of ours why in the world comments on writeboards don’t appear in the Overview tab, RSS feed, or in his Inbox.

I am seeing something come in when whiteboard entries are started but there’s no content and no link. At least give us a link so we can go see what was added. (Generally, the lack of links in the feed makes it pretty useless since you have to go on a clicking expedition to follow up.)

+1 I would really love to see WB become powerful enough for us to actually use effectively .. as it is we are cobbling our way through attempting to make formatting and revisions work using %$#^ html (textile) for christ-sakes

Lack of notification has proven to be a problem with us as well and it makes the Writeboards a lot less useful than they could be.

This one just goes on and on. I don’t think anyone at 37s listens. I respect them for their “keep it simple” approach, but not for ignoring things like this.

Well now that to dos and milestones have notifications this might be in the works. Would be courteous if 37Signals contributed to this discussion. I’m sure you’ve emailed them as well – but if not, do so.

I just emailed them now to make an official request. I guess I got spoiled by Freshbook’s staff contributing to their forums that I assumed 37signals at least listened as well. Hopefully others will email if they have a feature request.
