Email Notification Improvement?
|
|
Personally, I’ve always thought the email notification copy was a little too busy and got in the way of the message. Don’t get me wrong, it’s thorough and complete and conveys everything necessary. But it seemed like there was more “stuff” than message sometimes. I edited the copy a little and present it here for discussion. I don’t really expect any change to come of it, but perhaps there is something here to talk about.

We’re working on some Basecamp UI redesign right now and will revisit some of these email notifications as well. |

I actually have a much simpler issue. Why does basecamp send messages and new file notifications with the subject line title [COMPANY NAME] and send Milestone reminders and To-Dos under the subject line title of the project [PROJECT NAME]? It would be much much better if everything coming from Basecamp used the project title. As is I can distinguish in my inbox Milestones and To-Dos by which project they are associated with but Messages all are titled with our company name. See below…

Definitely worth exploring. |

I don’t even read the emails anymore – too much text – I just click on the link to see what it’s about. It slows down my day, but the emails are not easily read. Jason, I’d be interested to see email UI redesign before they get changed for comment. |

I would really really REALLY appreciate a weekly email on Sunday night with a simple list of all the milestones in the coming week, and a daily email of my milestones for the day. Why can’t I have cool SMS and email reminders like I have on Highrise and Backpack? |

I have a problem with file uploads. The problem is that gmail puts all those uploads from different projects under the same chat so I can’t archive them separately. The solution would be using project name instead of company name probably. That would get that 80% done :) |

I’d still REALLY love email reminders of milestones and tasks, and SMS reminders like Highrise and Backpack. |

Brian, Your suggestion for the email notifications of messages to contain the project name in the subject line is requested on these boards on an almost weekly basis. It’s such a simple enhancement. I’m not sure why it’s fallen on deaf ears with 37 signals for so long. I can’t think of a single downside to including the project name in the subject line. There are only upswings. |
