Love the new dashboard layout, can we have it in Overview too?

I like the Dashboard refresh: left aligning the item descriptions (along with moving the names/dates over to the right) makes the list so much easier to scan. Be great to see the same design carried over into the Overview screen. |

Thanks Mike. We will be pushing some changes to the Overview screen when we push the Dashboard tweaks. The two layouts will share common elements and layout concepts, but the space constraints are different so they won’t be exactly alike. |

Am I missing something here? What Dashboard refresh? edit: Just seen it on the blog and it looks good. |

Yep looks good as well! |

As discussed in previous threads, with this change, I’d like to be a vote that says color-coding has outlived it’s usefulness as current deployed. It was important before, as the chicklets were so small, but now, with everything big and readable, I’m not so sure I need a second layer of signifying that I’ve had a To-Do vs a Milestone just added. I think the earth-tone rainbow of colors just really increases the visual noise—we’ve been a lot happier with our hack than the default styles, so I’m a bit loathe to see them appear hear again. Would be great to open up the CSS to more direct customer control, that way we’d all be happy. Simple thing to consider: In our hack we strike-thru the label, not the item title. Much better usability (as it makes it easier to read the completed item). With the chicklets, not possible, but now, easy. Would love 37S to consider this. |

We really wish we could set the Dashboard’s # of recently updated projects to a # we determine…having only 5 is really limiting for us and we wish it were 10, 15 or some other number larger than 5. We work on a lot of things at once and don’t like to ALL be notified when there are updates, but having the option of visibility to a larger number of recently updated projects would help us all keep an eye on things. Thanks! |

Diane: We’ve explained the reasons for this in another thread, but I can’t find it at the moment so I don’t have a link handy ;) Here’s a summary: The Dashboard is a very data intensive screen and pulls a lot of data from a lot of places. It’s also one of the most commonly viewed screens. By optimizing the maximum number of items on the screen we can optimize the code to achieve significant performance gains. It’s an important optimization that has an impact on everyone’s experience. So while we can appreciate the desire to have more control and flexibility over the number of items on the screen, at this time the setup we have in place is the best setup for the most people most of the time. Performance is in constant demand and in this specific case performance trumps flexibility. |

Good revisions are when they don’t jump in to your face giving you an incomfortable feeling. This one is good thanks. Sorry for rehashing but I still miss a more alert style to the late milestones, for example a more colorful background to the title “Late & Upcoming Milestones” title. On our side, we have set all our colors to a subtle and grayish theme. Despite their position and their red text, we just don’t see the late milestones at first. We see them after the yellow “today” cell and the M&Ms text labels. The last time I commented on this, I received a short lecture by Jason on what is good and what is not. Please don’t do it again! ;) And maybe consider that you can add the “Late & Upcoming Milestones” background in the color scheme preferences. I think it would be a simple tweak to bring back a good feature. Everyone works differently and everyone perceives colors differently (right Tom?). Some of us need red backgrounds, others don’t and the only point is to get things done. Tell me I’m not alone thinking like this, am I? :) |

Moving away from graphical assets towards a more pure text/CSS framework makes more user-control over color schemes make a lot of sense. Even a broader array of pre-sets that affected more elements (like the task flags) would be a great step. Pretty simple technically. |

New dashboard and overview = very good. |
Overview page is spot on. Thanks. |
What happened to the ticks when to-do and Milestones completed? We liked them? |
I like both Dashboard and overview a lot – thanks, they’re both much tidier now. |
Thanks for pushing an update to the overview page as well, it looks much better now! |
