Multiple File Upload/File Preview

I apoligize if this has been requested, but I’d like to have the ability to upload multiple files at the same time. I’d also like to see a thumbnail preview for JPG’s and PDF’s if possible instead of the generic icons. Thanks for listening!

On that note, in a message when you click “add another attachment” it’d be nice if that automatically popued up the browse window for the file. No need to click again when you know that’s what we want to do

I’ll second this—especially as a designer, file thumbnails would be fantastic. Currently, I have to :

  • Export a thumbnail of every mockup I create
  • Upload both the mockups and the thumbnails to my own external FTP server
  • Post a message with the thumbnail linked to the full-size mockup.

Multiply this process by dozens of mockups, and you can see how it gets a bit tiring. I keep doing it, though, for two reasons:

  • It’s much easier and more intuitive to skim through and look at thumbnails rather than file icons with titles and descriptions
  • My clients can see a quick preview of each mockup and, more importantly, they can click on it to see the full-size mockup. They are, for some reason, terrified/confused by the ‘Files’ tab and any files attached to messages, and as such don’t always see the mockups I post.

If thumbnailing features were built in, my productivity would get a nice boost. I’m sure that this is true for more than just the designers.

Michael B. is reading my mind and Reid expanded on it similarly.

Spooky.

We have plans to add thumbnails to .gif, .jpg, and .png uploads like we do in Campfire and Highrise. We’ll be working on that shortly.

Thanks Jason, I’d appreciate this functionality as well.

For those wanting to make thumbnails of your files faster, try CocothumbX (if you use a Mac). It’s free and it allows you to drag your file on top of it to make a thumbnail file.

Doesn’t help with the missing feature in Basecamp, but it may speed things up.

I third or fourth this request, it would be very helpful…let’s make it happen BaseCampHQ.

Thanks.

This would be fantastic, folks have been talking about it over here as well.

If my clients could draw on the designs/add a post it to the area of he design they are commenting on that would be really helpful as well.
