I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a way to reorder messages. I suspect not but I would like to know for sure.

Thanks. I didn’t think so. We are trying to use basecamp to capture requirements for a customer….and using catagories as sections under which we list a message for a requirement. Be nice if could reorder this but I guess as this is not really its purpose and that they sould be in crono. order.

We’ve found that repurposing Basecamp’s widgets usually ends in tears. Use messages for messages, comments for comments about those messages, to-do’s for specifically assigned tasks, and milestones for significant waypoints in a project. Too much much adapting of one thing (say, messages) to do something else (like keeping lists or detailing requirements) just creates headaches (for us, at least.)

So maybe keep a Writeboard document you can use for building up your requirements lists, or maybe a Backpack page (or separate pages for each category or section.) Make changes to your Writeboard doc—add id tags when you make additions—and link straight to the new section in a relevant message or comment.
