I would love to see the picture gallery feature be improved to allow a direct image link (URL) to be used to produce an actual image in a Backpack picture gallery.

This works splendidly on Tumblr. When adding a photo, the user has the option to either upload an image (just like Backpack) OR to add an image URL. If they choose the URL option, Tumblr simply snags that image, resizes it if necessary, and adds it as a photo to the post.

I often use Backpack to compile ideas, visual references, example photos, brainstorm ideas, etc. and it gets cumbersome to have to always download every image and then re-upload it to Backpack. Seems like it could also reduce the bandwidth and storage requirements to just let people link instead of making them upload.

(I do love the way the new picture galleries are displayed, by the way. Very nicely done.)

Multiple uploads (several pics at once, maybe 3 – 6) would also be great.
