SMS Support (locked)

It would be rvery nice if Backpack would support more rural area mobile phone providers with SMS support. Such as, my mobile carrier, Edge Wireless. I know there was also a topic in the old forum about this too. I looked at the code and it doesn’t look like it would be to hard to implement. (Although I may be wrong) It seems to me they would just have to add the last part of the provider’s email address for their phones, such as @vtext.com for Verizon customers. My provider last part of their email is @sms.edgewireless.com, so if my phone number was (XXX) YYY-ZZZZ, my email would be xxxyyyzzzz@sms.edgewireless.com. I hope in the near future Backpack will support more rural carriers. |

I’d like to add another mobile phone provider SMS request. Mine is Cellular South, and the format is xxxyyyzzzz@csouth1.com. Also, congrats to 37S for getting BackPack 2.0 launched! I know it’s been a long hard process for y’all, but it’s launched and looks great :) Thanks in advance, |

Edge Wireless has been added and is currently available. Cellular South will be available after the next time we deploy, likely sometime today. Feel free to update this thread with requests for more providers, we need the provider name and the email address that they accept SMS email at and we’ll try to get them added as time permits. |

vodafone.es, orange.fr, and message.alltel.com have all been added. They will be available after the next time Backpack is deployed—probably later this evening. |

richallum, As far as we know, it is. We send email to <number>@orange.net for Orange. If that’s not correct, please let me know.
Jarkko, if you could provide me with the email address that TeliaSonera uses for it’s email to SMS gateway, I’d be happy to add them. Thanks. |

This doesn’t work I’ve tried it. Vodaphone UK don’t seem to support this service from what I’ve read. |

Rogers Wireless in Canada would be a great addition. |

it would be great if you could add IDEA Cellular in India BTW really nice update on the new Backpackit. |

After looking at this a bit more it seems that Sonera might not be able to handle this after all. At least I haven’t been able to find any information about an email to SMS gateway on their web site… Too bad… |
