We’ve just pushed some more updates:

  • Dates have returned to notes. You can make a date optional on new notes.
  • API adjustments to plug up a few holes we missed
  • Improved search indexing speed and reliability
  • UI tweaks (including more generous line height for note text and slightly smaller page title)
  • Improved page divider styles
  • Tweaked list styles for IE 6
  • Added 5 new mobile carriers to reminders
  • Additional picture gallery tweaks
  • Added OpenID/Open Bar to Backpack
  • And a variety of other minor adjustments

Thanks again for your feedback and support.

This is great, guys! Thanks for all of your efforts. I am loving the Open Bar functionality, and I am really pleased that my Backpack account is now included.

Hmm, some major bugs for me.

I can’t login, and myOpenID, a pretty popular OpenID provider does not work. I cannot request my password (which I would guess is the cause of the first problem), because neither the “forgot your password” field by the password field, or the “email it to [me]” link on the login error work. They both take me to the original login page, sans logins errors, without sending me an email.

Alright, I seem to be able to get in by going directly to my Backpack account rather than following the link provided on the Backpack homepage.

@Jeff Wheeler, I am having the same problem. If I go directly to the URL of my personal Backpackit page, it works. But if I use the login page at 123.Backpackit.com, it doesn’t.

Hey, love this openid, to have the Basecamp, Highrise, Backpack accts in one place is awesome! Thanks, guys!

is there a way to disable the notes’ dates globally? i much prefer no dates, and it seems like a good preference to add to the settings page. other than that, lovin’ it!

More improvements = great. Since the upgrade I have really started using my account more. Don’t like the revised dividers though – they are too strong in my opinion – the original grey line was subtle yet clear. Only my opnion though and you can’t please all the people all the time!

Thanks for the prompt updates guys, much appreciated.

Any chance we’ll see the ability to create links in list/notes titles, and an intuitive way to link pages together that are shared publicly? Also, the search feature is still a little hot and cold for me atm (trying to search the content of pages that have existed for a long time, and haven’t been updated for months).

Love the updates. Openid is terrific – glad it’s at Backpack.

Search, however, is still hit-or-miss – some items (not new ones) are simply not being found.
I’m sure you’ll get it fixed, though. This is great!

Jeff/nbr: OpenID login will only work if you go to your own Backpack account. OpenID needs to know your account URL to authenticate you. We’ll remove the OpenID login from the 123.backpackit.com login screen.

Chemnitz: If you are having problems with search you’ll need to email support with very specific details so we can help you. What isn’t being found? On what page? What is your account URL? How are you searching? From where are you searching? Etc, thanks.

awesome update, i wasn’t expecting the openbar this quickly… good job getting it released so fast.

Jason- FYI, for me search works fine for notes, note titles, and page titles. But it does not find anything in lists, divider names, image descriptions, and file names (unless they’re in a note). Otherwise, thanks for all the great new features!

w00t, go OpenBar.

I like openID and OpenBar. One problem: using them seems to disable backpack login from my mobile phone, using the backpack mobile interface. It rejects the username & password, and doesn’t offer openID as an alternative.

Peace. – Larry

Thanks, I’ll do that. Although, emailing support hasn’t been a pleasant experience for me. The one issue I had with Backpack (calendar), the response was many days in coming, and impolite. (The issue did finally get fixed.) I’m still waiting to hear from someone on an issue I have with Highrise. Emailed twice early in the week, no response. (And to save us the trouble: Yes, I checked my spam filter.) So, I’ve lost my confidence in emailing support.

Love the products, though.

Could you please add the year to the date?
This had already been missing from the old Backpack, but now it should really be added.

I just noticed the increased file storage space. Thanks to 37s for that.
Could anyone comment on the file size limits that are in effect now?

Odd that the reminders and writeboard limits seem to be the same as before, but they’re missing from the pricing list.

I’ve also seen my access via the mobile interface break after switching to OpenID.

Jason?

Avatar jonezy 99 posts

I can no longer login using the mobile site after switching to openid either.

Avatar Xiao G. Wu 2 posts

Yup, my mobile site also wouldn’t let me login after I converted to OpenID.

I have the same problem. Bummer.
