Hey hey, we're in Time Magazine!

The May 28th subscriber’s edition of Time (Al Gore is on the cover) includes a piece on 37signals called Small Is Essential by Jeremy Caplan.

37signals in Time

It includes a 3/4 page shot of the whole team. It’s rare we’re all together in the same place so it’s pretty cool to have it on film.

The article focuses primarily on how we’re structured, what we’re focused on, and how we place high value on small and simple.

Special thanks to Jeremy for writing the article and to Chris Strong and his crew for the working around our schedule to slip the photo shoot in. Much appreciated.

Note: This article only appears in the subscriber edition of the magazine. The newsstand edition does not have this article.

Congrats. I was just about to switch from Newsweek (where the design is getting worse-than-US-magazine) to the new Pentagram-designed Time, but it appears I wasn’t fast enough. Making design issues break through to the mainstream is no small accomplishment. Cheers.

This is nice ! Something to be proud on ! Congratulations !

Also nice for us to communicate to our clients that we are working with cutting edge people and software.

Even if they are small and simple ;-)

I guess you guys can finally check off that to do (with no due date!) that said something like, “Get national media attention with cool photo”

Three Things I learned from this article

  1. There are only 8 people working at 37signals (the same people who have developed all of their products—omg, I can’t imagine)
  2. The lead programmer, David Hansson, literally developed Rails for 37 (I know, I should have known, right?)
  3. Quote, “Next up for 37signals? Possibly financial software, Fried says. Like other small businesses, his firm now needs tools to manage its own financial success.”

Very interesting read. Read it here if you don’t want to scroll up.

A great article and credit where credit due. So good when another small is beautiful success story gets the recognition it deserves.

Congrats, guys! Here’s a little post I wrote about Highrise on my blog a month or so ago: http://manuelhp42.blogspot.com/2007/04/highrise-simple-web-based-crm.html

I’ve converted a few people over to use 37Signals products! ;)

Jason, you guys are amazing – and similarly structured to us. We try to keep it lean, productive, and fun – with associates scatttered around the country, and in communication via the Net and the telephone. It’s nice to have reinforcement that our structure may actually be smart! Whew! Thank you for a wonderful solution. And congratulations on being recognized for it.
