Answered On milestones can I force them to show they were done on the due date when checked?

Ray O'Bosky Feb 9, 2010 3:58 PM

Often times in my business I will not be in the office when a milestone is completed. When I get in the next day or so the milestone is of course late even though it was completed on the correct day. When I check the milestone off it shows that it was completed on the day that it was checked not the day actually completed. Is there a way around this other then adding a comment to the milestone? If not it would be nice to be able to select, while checking off, whether you would like to use the original due date or the current date. Hope this makes sense. This is very important to me and I am sure others have this same issue.

Thanks a ton!

Just being able to select the date would be nice. Whether it was today, due date or some other date would be a great feature!

The standard workaround I've had to use for years now is to note the date in the Title of the Milestone. So instead of writing "Client Kickoff Meeting", I tell people to enter "Client Kickoff Meeting Mar 15, 9am". This way we can ignore when the checkbox for the Milestone was checked for milestones that occur on a specific day.

That said, Milestones should store two dates per milestone. The date the Milestone is currently Due and the date when the Milestone was checked off as Completed. Having only one date per Milestone is causing many of the issues here.

For instance, with two dates stored, someone could change the Due date to the date they want prior to clicking the Milestone complete.
