Hi,
somewhere in here I saw a tip from I think Kayel about organizing pages—very helpful stuff but you mentioned that you can create cover pages when you find you have a lot of pages in the same category, with links to the sub-pages then found by going to that cover page. It sounded great in terms of reducing visual clutter and finding the good stuff.

I would love to do that but after searching hither and thither (how long since you heard that?) haven’t been able to find out how…please illuminate my life and help me clean up my lists?!

For me, Backpackit.com has turned out, literally, to be a life-saver (or at least a ‘quality of life’ saver).

Recently I was diagnosed with a rare disease—I’m basically fine so far, but it’s complicated my life, yes? Luckily, I already had backpackit in place so the possibilities became apparent right away and I have been fine-tuning my system as I go.

Among other (medical) things I’ve been able to keep nicely private and yet accessible to me:

a precise listing of medications (which I otherwise blank out on when asked about in the sterile environment of a medical office)-which I print out before seeing a new doctor…a couple of whom have been pretty dumb-founded but grateful for a list they can read (since it’s typed vs. hand-written). More recently it occurred to me that I can use your nifty reminder system to stay on top of refills, too.)

list of providers and their contact info

running list of “questions to ask doctors”

scanned-in copies of medical tests (which, worse case, could be accessed from a doctor’s office if they needed to see tests ordered by a different specialist)

information I run across on pertinent medical topics

a chronological log of events/appointments/tests (stuff you always think you’ll remember but don’t)

Sure, my insurance company is moving toward providing something similar, or there are similar sites—but with backpackit I can condense the information to what I really need, and even though it’s on the Web, feel a bit more secure vs. having it on a commercial site. Also, since a couple of my doctors are moving toward electronic records and using e-mail themselves, I am planning at some point to ask them if they would like me to share any of the pages (for instance, the test results).

This has really cut down on the time I have had to spend worrying about things that I don’t want to define my life.

I am bringing it up in this forum because I run into so many people who are having trouble tracking even fairly normal health-related information, and also as an opportunity to add to your portfolio for a fantastic product. Y

Ryan, Thank you!! Now I get it—I had assumed (we all know what that means) it would just dump all the content onto the page to do it this way, but I just tried it now given your description and got a very fast and neat attachment.

Re your tip-when you say you put the home page e-mail address in your email program….I am not sure what you mean by that-do you mean you add it to your contact list so you essentially don’t have to remember it? Because that is a great idea too.

and I apologize because I am not sure whether I picked the right category to launch this inquiry.

My question is, when I print out pages, the checked-off ‘done’ items that I can see on screen don’t show up on the print out. However, sometimes that information would be helpful to be able to access, for instance, when writing end-of-month reports etc.—so, is there a way to print ‘everything’ I see, not just completed items?

Truly, there is gladness in the land!!

Just wanted to let you know your intrepid support people (or was that you?) kept persisting. I was out of town (and away from computers) for a few days but came back to find an e-mail in my AOL mail from your folks. Shortly after, I tried e-ing my backpackit pages to myself and ah ha!! Success!!!

Thank you!! this all goes to show that even with the highest of tech, it is people that make the difference- you have a great product but your interest and support are what have made the difference for me!! And I tell people about you all the time-

Hi Ms. Hatter—Sorry, I mis-typed here but just checked my send file and had in fact sent them to the correct address (backpackit).

I guess that problem is related to the continuing problem of not being able to send myself pages…so back to my original question…?? any luck with that?

you told me to let you know if no progress. Sadly, that is why I am writing—earlier I e’d your support desk again but realized I had not had any acknowledgement from them on this issue (so am not sure it got thru to them).

I really like your program but am obviously concerned if I can’t get thru on the helpdesk and the e-mail problem is not resolved. Can you let me know what you have been able to find out so far? I can’t be your only AOL customer?!? Thx Arlene

THANK YOU – Why am I not surprised (about the AOL thing)?! – though again if it helps, for some reason I am still able to ge the reminder e’s just fine.

In any case, thank you for tackling this as I really really love your program—backpackit probably saves me 4 hours a week I was otherwise trying to do the same thing by more primitive means (on my time, of course). Since AOL will not at the moment let me communicate directly, I’ll check back here in hopes I have good news to report soon!! Arlene

I am one of your $5/month customers….I was able to e-mail my pages to myself until recently and have written the forum a few times-your administrator (Sarah Hatter) suggested I e you in hopes we can figure it out—although I discovered in her last e that you hadn’t received an earlier e-mail from me from this address (astanton6@aol.com)??!

So far I have tried sending myself several pages without any of them coming thru anymore. Then I switched the account e- to the one I have copied here (xxxx@aol.com) in hopes maybe that would make a difference (nope). (It’s still set that way if you want me to change it back.)

Could it be because I am up to 25 pages? though ironically I was trying to send myself some of the pages so I close some of them out!

BTW, when I set up reminders, they come through fine to my XXX address, if that sheds any light.

Also, when I checked your forum it appeared this was around when you’all were doing something related to this feature though I didn’t see anyone with quite my problem.

Any help would be appreciated, please!! I really like this program but this was one of the features that matters to me—and ;’] it would make a difference in whether I upgrade down the road!!

I love backpackit but the last few days have not been able to e-mail pages to myself…I was trying to do this so I could ‘archive’ some things and free up some pages in backpackit.

Until recently, I was able to do this without problems. Now, when I attempt to do this, the program asks if I want to send it to my e-mail address, which is cited correctly…but days later, I have not received the e-mails.

I see from some recent entries you are working on other e- related issues so am hopeful this is one of them!!

OK, I have been reading through a number of the posts and it sounds like perhaps? it is possible to move items from page to page by dragging over to the list of pages in the sidebar—but if that is the concept, I don’t seem to be able to make it happen…

More fundamentally is there a way to move items to other pages without re-typing and or copying the entire page?

Thanks for any help. Great program though and I really really like being able to ‘carry’ it from place to place so effortlessly!

I am brand-new to Backpack and was just trying out the calendar…I made one entry in error and now it seems I am stuck with it for eternity unless perhaps someone can point me to the right fix? All I want to do is delete that one entry…
