Topic: Feature Requests / Audio File graceful degredation - iPhone issue I use the Celltell Voicenotes service with my BackPack account and find that I cannot confirm that a message has been added to my ‘Audio Inbox’ page or listen to recordings as they are displayed using Flash. I would love it if you could offer some kind of degraded interface to display/play the files if the browser doesn’t have Flash enabled. Are you aware of this issue? |

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / User pics not displaying I was able to upload/display two new user images without any trouble. They are both in JPG format. I think there are just some glitches in the update as I am having completely different but apparently unique issues of my own (which support is working on). Not sure if it matters in your troubleshooting, but I am on a Mac (Leopard) using both FF and Safari (latest builds). |

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / Bump - Message file attachments That earlier fix got the file uploaded (presumably), but all I get when clicking on any of them is a url (in Firefox) or an image placeholder (in Safari). I think the other thread was marked as resolved or something. |

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / Unable to attach files to messages OK, closer, but not actually fixed. I can upload the attachment, but when I click on it, I get the url in Firefox (on a a Mac) or an image placeholder icon in Safari (latest build). Unfortunately, I don’t get the actual image in either browser. Can you take another look? |

Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / Unable to attach files to messages I just upgraded to the Basic level today and am busy trying all the new features. Unfortunately one of them is not working properly despite trying different browsers and computers. I can post a message successfully, but when I add a file to either the message or a comment, I get an error page. Anyone else having this issues? |

Topic: Tips & Tricks / How I customize the background I figured out how to have customized backgrounds with BackPack using a User Style Sheet. I found an easy way to do this using FireFox’s add-on called “Stylish” available here I thought that others might like to do this so I am posting my methodology. 1. Install the stylish add-on for Firefox and restart the browser. 2. Locate an alternate background, save it to your computer, and upload it to your image host on the web. I found a bunch of really nice wallpapers at Squidfingers. You will need to know the url of the image so you can link to it in the new user style sheet (easy to do with Flickr, Photobucket, your own space, etc.) 3. Navigate to your BackPack URL. Click on the pen/paper icon in the bottom right corner of the FireFox browser window and select “write style”/”for this url” from the menu that pops up. Download this image of my browser with a new style applied along with menu images before you prceed: 4. Copy the following code replacing the asterisks with your information per the sample image. Save when done and close and relaunch your browser. You should see the new background on all of your BP pages. You will have to also do this for Writeboards if you want a cohesive look, which is simple, involving navigating to that url and simply copying/pasting the same CSS code in.
I hope this helps all of you get more out of your Backpack account. |

Topic: Miscellaneous / How safe are sensitive data? I’d suggest placing all sensitive data in an encrypted disk image or a password protected zip file for online storage regardless of whether you use SSL or not. |

Topic: Miscellaneous / How safe are sensitive data? SSL provides privacy for the data as it travels from your computer to your backpack page thereby preventing someone from getting meaningful information from sniffed packets. If you’d like to understand it a bit better, read a gentle introduction here edit: After re-reading my original post this morning, I wanted to clarify something. SSL works by ensuring that you are connected and exchanging info with whom you intend. Data gets only to your intended recipient by means of an encrypted handshake. Packet sniffers don’t have the unique key to validate their identity, so they can’t get access to any useful data. I didn’t want to sound like I was saying the data itself was encrypted, hence my second post about secondarily encrypting the data itself. SSH, SFTP, and VPN are other related protocols that you may want to know about as we move more and more of our valuable data to the web. |

Topic: Backpack API / Body is now a note...problem In the requested features section, someone mentioned making some entries “stickies” which would seem to fix this issue, allowing you the flexibility to either hold a section in place, or allow it to fall as new entries are added. Do you think this would be an acceptable alternative to reverting back to the old way? |

Topic: Feature Requests / Add a... should be per Divider... I second this request. The new divider feature is awesome but, as Josh described, leads to a ton of scrolling on longer pages as you try to add content. His example of an alternative menu on the divider line is spot on. |
