Topic: Troubleshooting and Bug Reports / Backpack on the go

I recently downgraded to the free account (been paying for a long time) for the same reasons. I rely heavily on my iPhone, and am using OmniFocus for tasks and Evernote for notes. It’s too bad – a decent iPhone app would have been nice indeed.

Topic: Feature Requests / Send/resend notification on shared pages

It would be great if, on a page shared by email (i.e., a page shared with someone not in the account) if you could send a notification by email when the page is updated. Similarly, if you’ve shared the page but a person has forgotten the particulars or hasn’t logged on, if one could click a “resend page info” to people with whom the page has already been shared.

Topic: Backpack Calendar / Week Start/Weekend

@alxwz: 1) For a lot of people, working on Sunday is normal – or at least not abnormal. As you mentioned, ambulances, and following the same line, police, hospitals, and then restaurants, retail, sports, churches – for many of these, Sunday is not an “off day” at all. 2) Sunday as the first day of week is the US standard for calendars. 3) For Christians and Jews, Sunday as the first day of the week is intrinsic to their belief.

But like you, I’ve never minded it being an option.

Cheers!

Topic: Backpack Calendar / Week Start/Weekend

I have no problem with options. But it would need to be just that – an option. The week I follow starts on Sunday, and always will. I also work Sundays, and my “weekend” is Friday/Saturday. It would be really annoying if one of my work days was shaded…

Try this link. It might help to login to Jott first.

Are you trying to use the “Custom Link” setup? I used the setup that was formatted for Backpack (in the same list where you can select such items as Google Calendar, I Want Sandy, etc.). Then it’s just a matter of giving them your API, and adding “nicknames” for your pages. (However, you can add/edit the nicknames from within Backpack – all they are are tags in the format “jott_pagenickname”.) Hope this helps.

Topic: How are you using Backpack? / Jott + Backpack = mobile bliss

I’ve been a light user of Jott for quite a while now, but have discovered something that suddenly has me calling Jott a lot more often: a “link” to Backpack inside Jott. Once you supply Jott with your Backpack API, you are asked to configure your pages with one-word nicknames (they become tags inside Backpack) – then, call Jott and say, “Add task to [page nickname],” then speak your task. It gets added to the first list on the appropriate page. Wonderful – and free!

Topic: Feature Requests / File Versioning

By “versioning,” do you mean the same kind of feature as in Basecamp, “Upload a new version”? That would be useful.

Yes, and I subscribe to them, but my assistant doesn’t, and that would add yet another thing for her to track, which is part of the problem we’re having already. I’m ignorant about this: is there a way (perhaps some third-party webapp) to turn an RSS feed into an email? That would do the trick.

Topic: Feature Requests / Notification when a page is UPDATED

Anybody else like this idea? My assistant said to me yesterday, “I wish I could be notified about a task with an email, like in Highrise. I’m afraid I’m going to miss something.” That’s going well beyond the scope of the way lists are currently constructed in Backpack, but some kind of notification is essential if multi-user is going to work efficiently (at least for us).

Topic: Feature Requests / Notification when a page is UPDATED

I really like the feature where, on a multi-user account, a happy yellow [NEW] tag is put by the “All Pages” link on the sidebar, along with the same tag on the “Pages” page. I also love, when visiting an updated page, the cheery paperclip with the link to the summary of changes on that page. Great stuff.

What I would like to see is if another user makes a change to a page (in a multi-user account), the same tag (or something like it – perhaps [UPDATED]) gets put by that page in the sidebar. As it is, I might make a change, but unless I notify the other user about it, it could go unnoticed.

Another idea is a simple link on a page whereby other users could be notified via email or Backpack reminder about the change, with a link back to the page that has been updated.

Topic: Backpack Calendar / Backpack Calendar on iPhone but not millions of other phones

I would love if there was a simple, web based version of the Backpack calendar that I could access and make changes to via my phone.

Yep. That and the slow refresh rate is what sent me off the paying plan and back to Google Calendar.
