I couldn’t get it to work either, so please post if you figure it out.

I put this code in a divider title, as instructed and don’t see any difference. Am I missing something?

is there any way to get a backup of data that was just lost?
I think I stupidly deleted a user and their pages went with it although they were “our” pages, not just theirs

I recently lost a page somehow or another that couldn’t be recovered.

As far as I know after searching online, the only options are to email the page to yourself, use packrat (via the API), or export the XML bit. None of those options however give you the actual uploaded content you’ve added.

As I’ve replied more and more on Backpack for being the primary source of certain content, this is an increasingly critical feature… especially if you want to make the Corporate Intranet argument.

Just my $0.02.

packrat is ok but expensive and I don’t need the “offline” features.
Maybe a simple app based on the API ? Just an export/import tool.

The February 2008 changes to Backpack seem to have broken iBackpack on the iPod Touch for me. I can see the frame with the pages but cannot scroll through it and there are other formatting quirks.

Is it just me?

Will the snippet work with my n800? I guess I could give it a try, but there are so many other distractions.

Justin, the new update has broken the edit feature for me. And is there any way that we can reorder stuff on the page?

It sure would be nice if you had a way to import from that file, though.

Justin:

This seems like something that would be feasible for Highrise as well.

I’m assuming that the CSS is similar across 37signals sites?

Many people want a similar ibackpack function for highrise. Perhaps ihighrise?

Thoughts appreciated,

Josh

Wow. This is very cool. At first, I was confused by the layout, but I like the way the sidebar is stacked atop the main page content.

I am going to play around with the placement of the divider. It would be nice to get it out of the way a little more.

Very nice work.

You can export your text data whenever you want. Click the “Account” link then the “Export your data to XML format” link.

do you think this could work in campfire as well? I added the same link to the “topic” field of the top-most chat in my campfire-account, and it shows as a link on the front page… the css doesn’t work since it’s tailored for backpack, but that could be done. to start with, only formatting the chat-windows for the iphone screen-width would be super!

OT: btw, your iphone is obviously hacked (screenshot app), so what is that little “sun” icon in the lower right corner?

Well I just tried it out on my iPod Touch and it seems to work great. Quicker than normal backpack, and much easier to add and edit stuff. For large pages (like my home page), it still takes an absolute decade to load it all up on the iPod Touch, but that’s a device fault.

Great work Justin!

A backup on demand or on schedule would be great! It’s one of my top concernes before expanding (and upgrading, and paying for) my use of the service.

Hi,

Requested feature: Ability to perform account BACKUPS.

We now have quite a few pages and it would be devastating if there was a server problem.
Allowing us to perform a backup (download) on demand would be very reassuring.

Thanks
