Topic: Tips & Tricks / Sub Navigation for Groups of Pages

I love the flexibility of Backpack. As my number of pages has quickly grown I have used semantic naming of pages to help them get organized, but having a way back to the main page for each “group” or “project” seems like it always takes 1-2 more clicks than I would like.

This sort of functionality has been mentioned before but if you just want to have a link to a page (a functionality lost a couple of upgrades ago) you can just post the link in the title of an empty note and it will show up the same.

So what I’ve done is provided a “Project Home” link at the top of all the sub-pages for that project. Now it is only one click back to my main area for that project (class, group, etc.).

Nothing game changing but I’ve found it to be simple and helpful – and gets me where I want to go in one click.

Topic: Feature Requests / extend search to everything

Yep – I usually organize meeting notes with a client by having a divider titled: “Meeting Notes” and then having writeboards linked underneath. Having the search index writeboards would be fabulous.

Topic: Feature Requests / Creating a list ...

I totally agree. I am always going back to edit the list title. But it would be nice if that field was just tab as if empty the default “list” would be what was put there.

Topic: Feature Requests / Email Files from Backpack Page

The file item on Backpack pages has always only been of limited function for me – primarily for archival. It would be cool to add some functionality for interacting with that file from the page itself. The initial idea is that when you hover over a file on a Backpack page you get a hover prompt to delete (trash can), edit, and move (cross hairs). What if an envelope also appear and if clicked it would prompt either:

1. A popup window that allows the sending to people along with a subject and message (reply-to would be set to the native email for the account). There could also be a “quick access” prompt for anyone that you have shared a page with already.

or

2. Clicking on the envelope would bring up a new email message in the computers default email client with the file attached (I realize that the file would need to download first and then be attached). Then the message could be addressed and sent as normal.

Even adding this function would great increase the value of having files on project pages tremendously.

What do you guys think?
