Topic: How are you using Backpack? / Jott + Backpack = mobile bliss

Then use Dial2do which is still free. Email your pages or notes etc to backpack

  • Bonus – works better transcribing international english accents (ie non US)
  • Bonus – works in a dozen countries (not just US)
  • Bonus – you can use a landline even though it says mobile/cellphone

Arrivederci Jott!

Topic: Feature Requests / Integration of Campfire with Backpack

+1

We have access to both but NO-ONE will go onto Campfire because it requires two separate logins and Campfire data cannot be shared with Backpack. Bit of a waste really.

37 signals has a continuing and endless problem with integration and no roadmap for clients.

Let’s hope, eh!

Topic: Backpack Calendar / Integrate with a page, writeboard

or note!

Am I missing something?

Is there any way
- to attach a note to an event
- of linking to a page with further details
- of referencing a writeboard

Thanks

Topic: Feature Requests / Tag URLs

+10 For this Chuck

Part of very low effort integration – custom page urls, tag urls, custom site urls

Nothing fancy, pure functionality

Topic: Feature Requests / Custom Site URL

Following on from Custom Page URL… There is a tremendous opportunity for Custom Site URLs (service37.info rather than service37info.backpackit.com) Our Backpack site already has a custom cloaked URL which is a little bit 20th century. Uur own url would sit better and allow clients and partners easier links.

  • Free Custom URLs are now widespread (Google Apps, Tumblr, Soup, Blogger, Weebly, Wetpaint)
  • Implementing this easy but incredibly useful feature – at least for paying users – is low effort and great for goodwill.
  • Sites inpired by 37 signals credo of simplicity (Tumblr, Soup) have implemented custom URLs without interrupting form or function

Looking forward to this

Topic: Feature Requests / Custom page URL

EP’s suggestion deserves it’s own Feature Request

Custom page URLs are easy to implement and have a great impact – especially for public pages.

  • There is already a facility for setting a custom email address for each page
  • Current URLs are cumbersome, have no logic and a little bit 1998
  • This feature is normal in free software frameworks and wikis

Many thanks

Topic: Feature Requests / Blog

I have been using backpack as a Pro client for a few months and have stretched and hacked it. Also made a blog out of it but it is hard to use, to style and misses basic features. I don’t want our project to open lots of other side services to achieve what could be done with a couple of tweaks at your end.

Recipe for a low effort backpack blog
  1. Allow admins to configure a tag (ie: blog or published) for making individual notes/images/files public
  2. All posts with the blog tag appear in reverse order on an easy URL page ie: my.backpackit.com/blog
  3. All entries are searchable with a report at my.backpackit.com/blog/searchresults
  4. 10 entries appear, monthly archive page in the sidebar

Please think about this simple feature for us to interact better with clients.

Many thanks for your excellent application. I support its simplicity and believe it can be extended without sacrifices
