Topic: SUBSCRIBED CALENDARS: Refresh rate?

Seeing this problem here also. I deleted several events on my G-Cal a day and a half ago but they are all still showing on my Backpack Calendar. Thought maybe I was doing something wrong but I see here that others are having the same problem.

Certainly not a “deal-killer” for Backpack, but it sure does lessen the value of the calendar quite a bit.

We’re experiencing the same lag but only on some calendars.
We’ve also found that subscribing to new calendars isn’t working like it used to so we can’t just scrap them and start again.

Agreed! It is actually taking several days for our calendar items to show up on Backpack. We are huge fans and use many of your tools – Basecamp, Highrise, Backpack across our company – so this will be very helpful when fixed.

I sadly have this issue too with iCal. I’ve been waiting all day for the husband’s calendar link to refresh from mine so we can coordinate calendars. The rate is definitely not working as 2 hours for me. As I write this, it’s been about 8, no refresh. I am an avid Basecamp user, so I expected the same great functionality from this product, but it’s getting a bit disappointing. Jason, any way you can take just another look and address this one? All the best.

The Backpack Calendar refreshes iCalendar feeds every few hours (at least 6 times a day)

I saved an even on my Google Calendar about 6hours ago that still hasn’t fed through my Backpack calendar, so I am really skeptical about the iCalendar refresh rate as well…

Common[sic] 37signals, listen to your customers. Isn’t that the hip thing to do these days?

You haven’t read any of things they write about have you?

The customer is not always right.

Yes, the quote was taken out of context just for laughs.

Yeah, this is driving me nuts and really hampering my desire to centralize with backpack. At least add a manual refresh button somewhere on the calendar page. Right now I am deleting and re-adding my subscriptions to get them to update, which inevitably I won’t be able to tolerate anymore.

I agree. Stick with Google Calendar. Maybe when they add more features to the calendar, I would reconsider.

I use 30boxes instead of the BP calendar. I love most aspects of BP but the problems you mentioned turned me off the BP calendar.

Topic: SUBSCRIBED CALENDARS: Refresh rate?

Greetings, all.

My wife and I have been using Google Calendar to do shared calendaring, and will be using Backpack for all of our other needs. However, it seems that the refresh rate on calendars that you are subscribed to has not improved since this was last addressed last year.

Any chance of any news that this refresh will happen any quicker? Without it being regular and reliable, calendar is just not usable – and sadly – falls way short of what I expected it to be. Not being able to put in durations for events is a big yuck – and not having customizable repeats is also not so hot.

Just wondering what the status was on this – or if perhaps anyone has had any better success with 30 Boxes for calendaring in conjunction with Backpack. I love Backpack for everything else – the calendaring just seems a bit weaker than the rest of the features at the moment…

Many thanks,
-b
