Is there a limit on how large each page is? for example, is there a 5000 character/page limit? or is it limited by kb?

I don’t think there is a limit. I have a couple of massive pages though that have become basically unusable (moving lists around etc). I just remove them from my sidebar and start a new one with a link at the top of the page to the archived version.
