Backpackit Mobile can't work w/ OpenID
|

I changed my account to work with OpenID, and then discovered while roaming with my Blackberry that Backpackit mobile only accepts Username/Password logins. Help! |

Hi Stever, On the regular login screen, there’s a link to “Can’t login?”. If you click that, you’re send a regular username and password that can be used alongside the OpenID login. You can use those to login from your Blackberry. |

I’ve switched to OpenID, and now when accessing [username].backpackit.com/mob I’m unable to login. I’m prompted to enter username and password, but no dice. I’m not sure what’s being referred to above, because this is the only options I’m being given. This seems to be a bandaid at best, anyway. Please advise as to what’s being done to rectify the problem. Thanks. |

I have the same problem as Shawn Y. |

Shawn Y and Eitan Burcat: I’ve figured out that you have to go to the backpack page on your COMPUTER and click on the “Can’t Login?” link on the page. They will then send you a username and password you can use. However, there is one HUGE problem. They send you a password that is like 30 characters long – very hard to accurately type in on a phone, because every thing you type enters in as an asterisk, making it easy to lose your place. I’m on a windows smartphone with a keyboard and have finally given up on Backpack mobile due to the tedious nearly impossible process of logging in. Very frustrating. You should be able to use your old regular password (before open ID). For now I guess I’ll have to stop using open ID with backpack! It was so convenient to use with my other 37signals pages. How about it 37signals?!!!! Can we improve this process? |

Hi guys, In addition to the “Can’t Login” work-around, you can actually start by logging in on your phone using the direct Backpack URL (don’t append /mob) using OpenID. Then, once logged in, you can access the /mob path and use the regular mobile interface. We’ll definitely continue to think of ways that we can improve the situation and make it easier for people use both the mobile interface and OpenID. |
