I figured out just recently that subscribing to your Backpack calendar and reminder feeds in Google Calendar allows you to setup custom reminders (via SMS or email) for your events / reminders.

Amazing!

Backpack doesn’t support my mobile service provider, but Google Calendar does. You can also specify a different notification time than the default 30 mins.
