Option for making messages private

I posted about this on the blog, but perhaps this is a better place.

I use Backpack for myself, but would like to involve other people who I work with from time to time. Its easy enough to share pages with select people, but I can’t use the Newsroom/messages feature as it is, as everybody would see all the messages.

Would it be possible to include a button on the New Message page to restrict the viewability (not a real word, I know :)) of messages to only those people it is being sent to? I imagine this could be something like the ‘Private’ button in Basecamp. I’d like to centralise as much of my communication as possible in Backpack, but can’t do it as things now stand.

If anyone else would find this useful please add your support here!

Taking a page out of Wikipedia’s book, try setting up a User Talk page, a page that only you and a certain user could see. Both of you subscribe to the RSS feed for the page to see when a change is made.

It’s not an excellent solution, but something to consider.

There are plenty of solutions, but I’d rather reduce the number of mediums I use – hence my wish to work in this way within Backpack. Hopefully this could be one of the things they add when they do their quick update that usually follows a launch. Fingers crossed!

I have a similar scenario/request as Peter. Ideally, I’d like for the Newsroom to only show updates to other users based on their permissions. In other words, if I haven’t share a page with you, you don’t see anything related to that page on the Newsroom.

This would far better enable situations where (like me) Backpack is being used for personal and work related projects, without sharing personal information to coworkers.
